suspension Qs

Similar to an earlier post about "loose suspension", but I didn't want to hi-jack his thread..

I know I need new shocks (apparently it needed it once it was driven off the lot )

Anyway, I'm a virtual newbie at the suspension stuff on the car. I'm pretty sure that I can do most of it myself, and want to get the parts.

What parts, bushings, etc am I going to need to tighten up the suspension on my 75K mile ride?

I'm mostly looking for the front end, and rear shocks, but if I should swap out some components on the rear, please LMK..

I assume I'm going to have to get it aligned once I'm done???

Any/all info appreciated.

thx

JT

Hey man welcome to the f-body fam. There is alot of threads about suspension but We need more info. Whats your goal with this car. Are you going to be racing it? How often. Is it going to be for auto-x or drag. All these things help aid us in having an understanding as to what your trying to acheive.

I would at least start with the re-location brackets, Control arms. PanHard. And if your going to lower it then thats another issue. Then you can get into the sway bars and struts. Some Sub-frame connectors would help. If you lower it I recommend an alignment.

It will help alot to know your intended purpose for the car: drag race, auto crossing, or just a regular street driver.

nah...

I'm thinking of basically putting fresh "stuff" in place of worn out stuff...

I read about "worn out tie rod ends" and poly bushing sets and new shocks etc, but am not sure what stock bits and pieces I should replace.

Looking to replace stock stuff w/ better after market stuff. My main interest is handling, not drag.

Stuff I've read so far:
1) Revalved Bilstein's w/ Pro-kit springs... needs Adj. PHB and alignment.. I'm OK w/ that.... OR HD's on stock springs..
2) Sub. Frame Connectors... (bolt in and/or weld in)... I'm OK w/ that.

When I take it apart to to the shocks and maybe springs I want to replace old and possibly worn out stuff..

For my purposes, I'm not sure about my need for LCA's and relo brackets... and torque arm and drive shaft loop, etc... Mainly the stuff that is probably "shot"..

thx

There are kits on the market that will replace all of your vehicles bushings from front to back. As for the front end rebuild parts such as the tie rod ends, I would look into the Moog stuff, they are a good quality replacement.
