E-mail is usually the best option as I work for Cingular so I'm always on the phone with people and usually unable to make an return phone calls. I work from 11a-8pm mon-sat sometimes. E-Mails or PM's on board will be returned promptly I spend a lot of time on the internet. Will obviously talk on phone if possible.
Due to a recent problem with the car I've decided to sell it to someone who will be able to fix it cheaper than I could. Basically the motor has developed a knock with 74,xxx on the clock and my mechanic and I are baffled at how it happended. I have taken excellent care of this car since I've owned it almost a year and the previous owners had done a fair job of maintaining it. I've always changed the oil every 3k with Royal Purple and have kept up with routine maintenence and always keep it clean. Of course it had it's little problems but it was an excellent running and driving car. It never leaked or burned oil as I checked it frequently but about a week ago while driving to work I noticed a knocking sound so I turned around back to my house, drove about 2 miles babying of course and checked the oil. There was none on the dipstick so I bought oil and added 3 quarts of RP to get back to normal level then started it but the knock was still there. I had just checked the oil 2 weeks earlier and the level was fine and it had never had any sign of burning, only 1.5k on the current oil change. Basically my mechanic says it sounds like a rod knock but for a re-build he estimated about 3,000 and for a new motor around 5,000. I'm currently trying to go to college and working 40 hours a week so I can't afford to fix it or I will never make it to school so I'm hoping to sell it to someone who can, might only be a 1,500-2,000 fix and I know most Camaro's in my area go for 8-10k with 70,000 mi. Sorry for the wall of text just wanted to explain since the car is not in perfect running condition. Details below.
Mechanical: Car always ran great before the motor malfunctioned, the interior is pretty decent although the previous owner left some cigarette burns on the driver and back seat and few on the headliner (dang smokers) but they really aren't that noticeable local junk yard could get my new headliner pretty cheap. Car has 1 ding on the hood and a fixable scratch on front driver fender, otherwise body is clean although being so low ground effects are obviously beat up. Ash tray has a broken hinge but still works, like every other LS1 I've been in.
Mods: Magnaflow exhaust with 396 chevelle tips, cats are gutted but still on car, EGR and Air is still in place planned on removing and have block-off plates and other hardware. UMI Subframe Connectors are still in box planned on installing them as well just got them and they will be included. Brand new Sumitomo Tires less than 500 miles on them. Car was aligned and tires mounted and balanced less than a month ago. Also just installed Clear Corners and replaced all bulbs with Nighthawks. Car has Chrome Badging as well. Has a very nice Panasonic MP3 CD-Player with Color Screen and is fully motorized, IPOD Capable, Sat Radio etc. Only had CD-Player about a month as well, was in the middle of re-wiring stereo when motor knocked. Also has nice Pioneer Speakers, Front Speakers are wired, CD-Player is wired, and Rear Speakers need to be re-wired have all the hardware as well should only take 30 minutes to do including hiding all wires. I was planning a huge system so was re-wiring everything but unable to complete, could do if requested.
I think that is about all that I can think off, basically it was my dream car and I really hate to see it go, but financially I can't afford to fix it no matter how cheap it could be done. I worked forever to get an LS1 and last week when this happended was probably the worst week of my life. I'm already taking a loss selling it so low but less of a loss then it could be fixing it. I think it would make an excellent car for someone who had the resources to fix her up, I was in the process of fixing all the little things that were wrong when the motor went so unexpectiently. But with a little TLC and a little money this car could be restored again.
