Was it ever offered on 4th gens? It gets hot enough as it is in the summer here in Arizona, I really don't need more glass in the car to add to the greenhouse effect.

There are "sunshades" available for the t-tops. They were optional in the early years, and standard in the later years of the 4th Gen. Opaque panels that fasten to the inside of the glass panels with velcro tabs.

In the 14 years I've been playing with the 4th Gens, I've never seen a t-top car with solid panels. I actually picked up the piece someone cut off their solid top coupe when they did a t-top conversion, to make a set of lightweight replacement panels for the track. Never finished them though.

If you don't like the idea of the sunshades, just paint the glass.

More likely a custom set-up, as only glass t-tops were offered on all 4-gen f-bodies. I'm pretty sure in addition to the t-tops you also get a set of sunshades that are secured to them with velcro tabs.

If the sunshades are a bit of a hassle you can always paint them or have a very dark tint applied to them.

I bet painting them would look pretty cool.

On FRRAX, somebody had carbon fiber t-tops. Whether they were homemade or aftermarket Idon't remember.

yeah get the sunshades that fit inside the t-tops, when I bought my car, the previous owner must have lost it. I baked in my car the 1st summer, the next summer I bought some sunshades, I never removed them since, they stick on with some velcro fasteners.

I would think you would be able to add some kind of shading...

Uuuuhhhh...NO. T-tops were an option on 4th gen cars. There are some 4th gen cars without t-tops...a lot were 6 cylinders but there are a few V8's out there.

Sorry...I just re-read what you had written and you were right with the statement "only GLASS t-tops were offered"...I think the poster you were quoting was in reference to the cars without t-tops...

I thought about putting some 5% window tint on the insides. Anyone tried that? I see the shades go for like $80+ for new, thats a bit much for me.

Try finding a set on the for sale board or eBay. In 94, the shades were "optional", and my Formula didn't have them. I found an unused set that matched my graphite headliner, with the velcro dots and everything for about $25.

 I had no idea those shades were so rare. When I bought my car I had to remind the guy (he was selling a bunch of F-bodies) that I wanted the shades. He seemed hesitant but gave them to me.

well it seems like you have enough replies, but i will put my word in. If you go to ebay motors. You can find sun shade inserts very cheap. Ill tell you they work great.

My first car I bought the shades for it, it made a big difference.

My current car I didn't want to spend the lettuce on the shades so I went down to Autozone and bought a $10 roll of 2.5% tint. If you use a heat gun and make a couple slits along the outside you can get it to sit flat.

My car has the dot-matrix pattern and with the tint when you look up it is now reflective with the dot pattern in it- hard to explain but I think it looks cool. The other thing is they are now plenty dark enough to keep the sun out.

The shades or tint could work, it's just that I expect to always have the shades in or with the tint, it's always dark anyways so I figured it would nice to just have a solid panel to begin with.
