Hi, I am rebuilding my lt1 as a 383. I bought a set of milodon 4 bolt splayed caps. I took my block to work and my friend cut the registers in the block and the caps, on a horizontal machining center. We followed the instructions included for installation and They fit nice and tight. The problem is, when we bolted the caps down through the original 2 (center) bolt holes, now the notches (that came already cut in the new caps) where the tab on the main bearings locks into, does not line up with the notches in the block. This means my bearing halves will not line up. One is almost .100 thousanths off. Has anyone else had a similar problem? The bolt holes in the new caps measure on center (of the cap thickness). Could we turn the caps around and cut new notches in the locations where I need them to be? The 2 existing factory bolt holes in the block do not appear to be on center of the main webs. Thanks for any ideas. -nick.

The notches are not supposed to match on the top and bottom...and the block needs to be line bored.

I just looked at my bearings. I see how the tabs are different for each half. thanks for pointing this out.
