I am happy to report that I have received a prototype version of the CamaroZ28.Com die-cast Camaro Concept and got some pictures of them.

They can be found in the gallery on the die-cast order/info page:
http://www.camaroz28.com/diecast/

Scroll through the image gallery and click the thumbnails to select the image you want to see, and then click the large version to show full-size in a new window.

First, I want to say that I am very happy with how they turned out. We will be progressing with the production run.

Second, please keep in mind that I am far from a pro photographer and taking decent pics of something so small yet detailed was not easy but I did my best. :)

I also created a mockup of what the packaging is expected to look like with the car in it.

This is a "quick and dirty" way of doing it. I basically sacrificed one of the retail GreenLight Camaros from my collection, and opened it up and removed the contents. I printed my packaging artwork on regular paper and trimmed it to fit the package, then placed one of the prototype car in it to see what it would look like.

See the attached pics! Remember, this is a ROUGH mockup.

Oh sweet they're black!!! I thought they were gonna be orange.

I never thought about that...sorry for the confusion!

I showed a pic of an orange retail version (the kind you find in the stores) and said it would be like that, but as our custom version.

I need to update the info so people don't get confused. Glad you are happy! :)

Here's some interesting updates for those who are paying attention so far...

The prototype versions mentioned above had an inaccuracy that I'll bet very few noticed...the stripe style.

For example...look at the stripes in this picture, which is the original design:
http://www.camaroz28.com/diecast/diecast/card.jpg
Basically, standard heritage style stripes.

Now, have a look at the prototype image:
http://www.camaroz28.com/diecast/diecast/proto1.jpg

Note the stripes are "backwards". This is how the production company makes the stripes on all of their regular retail cars.

I, however, wanted them to be not only historically correct but also to match the original design so I had them changed to be accurate. They sent me some sample pictures of the revision...

http://www.camaroz28.com/diecast/diecast/v2-2.jpg

So, not only did I want them accurate, but I also wanted to be different (which is predictable for me). To my knowledge, the CamaroZ28.Com car will be the first (and only?) that this company will make using this stripe style. This company not only makes incredible die-cast cars, but they are also excellent to work with. Makes me want to work with them again already. :D

The green chase car...ohh how I would love to have one.

Does the company get the protos or do you get them? like the ones pictured above?
Just wondering would make for a cool raffle or give away.???

I actually did notice that the stripes were wrong when you first posted the pictures. I was kinda disappointed but I figured I would just deal with it. It's a cool car anyway. It's even better now that the stripes will be correct.

The wheels are an awesome choice. Too bad I wasn't one of the lucky ones to get one of the green cars.:(

Greenlight took the assembled prototypes mentioned in post #9 above and assembled them into complete cars and sent them to me for final approval, even though I had already approved them based on the unassembled pictures.

They really look awesome! I didn't think they could look any better than the 1st version of the prototype but with the correct stripes, they look even better. You guys will be blown away by these when you get them. They are expected to start shipping in late June early July!

Q: What is a "Green Machine"?

Green Machine versions are GreenLight's special edition separate numbered run, and can be considered in this case to be a "limited edition of the limited editions". They will account for approximately 5% of the regular production run of the CamaroZ28.Com cars. They will be VERY rare and valuable. They will come with a matching numbered certificate of ownership.
Here is an example (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170083774352) of a Green Machine version of the retail Camaro Concept on eBay.

Q: Okay, how do I get the "Green Machine" version?

Every 25th pre-ordered regular production car (up to the first 500) will get a CamaroZ28.Com Green Machine version to go along with it absolutely FREE (a total of 20 free Green Machines - the "Lucky 20"). As of 4-7-07, we believe we have reached the 500 pre-order mark, so reference to this has been removed from the pre-order page.

We may also give one or two away in the future in contests on our CamaroZ28.Com Podcast (http://www.camaroz28.com/podcast/) or otherwise.

I don't plan to tell people who got them, I would hate to be wrong.
