What would cause a 4l60e to be stuck in a foward gear? I purchased the car knowing the tranny was dead but this is kinda weird. I've disconnected the shift linkage and manually put it into netural and the car is still stuck in gear, I cant even push it in reverse, itll only roll foward. Regardless of which gear it is in if I start it and give it a tad of gas it will crawl foward, even in park! I've got a fresh tranny and converter sitting here but was curious about what could of caused it. BTW anyone need 3 dead 4l60's?

well if it is not a linkage problem, i would say the clutches are welded together from heat

Forward clutches "welded" to the forward steels.

Had a hell of a time getting the driveshaft out last night so I could bring it into the shop. The driveshaft would slide foward into the tranny at all, even with the aid of a hammer!!! I managed to use a prybar to pop it out looks like I need to replace the ujoints now too. Welded clutches ouch, I guess that means the prior owner beat on the car huh lol.
