I have read to use 4 quarts of Dexron III ATF. A friend insists not to use Dexron entirely, because it's thin, and if I put some lucas 80-90 gear lube mixed with lucas tranny fluid it would be smoother? Thoughts?

CrazyLT1 04-17-2007, 05:50 AM Dextron III ATF seems to be what MOST people on here use I personally use Royal Purple and LOVE it shoebox 04-17-2007, 08:19 AM You are not supposed to put gear lube in it. OBE1 95Z28 04-17-2007, 10:37 AM 151K miles on my original T56 tranny with Dexron III, no issues. Capn Pete 04-17-2007, 11:07 AM If it calls for Dexron III, then run Dexron III . Who is your friend, and what does he know????? :p If you're really concerned, you can run a synthetic ATF (although it's really NOT "necessary") or you can buy, DIRECT FROM GM, their "synchro-mesh" fluid. But DON'T run "gear oil". 93Phoenix 04-18-2007, 02:37 AM Who is your friend, and what does he know????? :p Well he is a Ford guy if that tells you anything.;) It sounded fishy to me. Thanks guys. | ||
