How's everyone doing in this storm?

We're ok.

The back half of our basement has about 6 inches of water in it - first time we've had more than a trickle in the 3 years we've owned the house. No electricity when I left for work this morning and my usual 35 minute drive to Princeton from Bristol took 3 hours and 15 minutes. Ugh.

Hope everyone else has minimal to NO damage!!!

No big problems,I hope,but some of the bricks around my fireplace are damp to the touch which means they must've gotten pretty wet on the inside.I don't know if that's a big thing or not but either way I don't like it .
It sure was fun doing deiveries today though

I was down in that area today and Rt 1 was closed around QB Mall. What a mess !!!!

We had about 6 inches of snow/sleet here on top of about 3 inches of rain and a ****load of wind problems here. Power flickering but nothing to bad....that's what ya get for living in the Poconos I guess

Just be careful driving your vehicle in water logged areas if you have a cold air intake near the bottom of the vehicle... I have seen too many people sucking up water into the throttle body and causing engine issues..

we were ok. The creek out back flooded pretty bad. I should have gone out to take some pics cause it was pretty amazing. It runs probably 300 ft into the woods and y house sits at a much higher elevation so no problems here. I would bet the creek was 10 ft about its normal level and flooded alot of crap around here. I didnt have any problems going to work today though. Left my house at 7 and made it to my Bensalem office by 745. Left there for a call to Lumberton NJ where I ended up pulling a cyl head off of a little mini Cat engine and took the head back to Bensalem... never ran into any problems with traffic of flooding.

I head Rt73 was closed for a bit, so was the Admiral Wilson blvd... Thankfully I didnt have to go work in the city today;)

The project stayed dry in the garage so I gues I had a good day:)

Little man slept alot today and Liz got a chance to finish her school work, good there too!

Besides a little rain we made out pretty well.

By the time we got home from work the entire basement was under water (up to 8-10 inches on the back wall). Pretty much anything that was on the floor is wet but we're trying to save at least the furniture. We had to go out and buy a sump pump to get all the water out and it has finally stopped running. It's amazing that we've never had water before and suddenly EVERYTHING is under water.

It was a nightmare coming home too. Route 1 was still closed at 95. I tried to go north to pick up the turnpike but every road I knew was closed too! When Rick finally got home (I had already been on the road for an hour) he got me to 295 and it was smooth sailing from there - still a 2+ hour drive home though!!

Yes Chris - I drive to Princeton every day. It's normally a 30-35 minute drive and doesn't bother me much.

As I watch CNN news, I realize that my long drive to and from work today, and the water in my basement are trivial compared to what people in Virginia are facing. What a mess.

how did you make out getting the sump pump? I heard there was a fight that broke out here at the local Home Depot to get one. The usual crap... one guy said he was there first and they were both arguing over the last pump. 5 min later the cops were there and the 2 guys were fighting in the isle.

My buddy told me that, his dad was ther to buy a pump also to empty his basement which also flooded.

BTW, jax a 30-35 min drive isnt bad at all. My father in law used to drive to Baltimore everyday. Just south of the city actually. 2hr every day each way for 7 years:eek:

I didn't go with Rick for the sump pump but he wasn't gone long and came back with no black eyes. :D

We have one... only 4 paws to wipe. Did I tell you that? We adopted a 5 year old yellow lab from a shelter in Burlington Co. NJ. Buster. :)

Well, I took the boat out of the river on Saturday late in the day so no problems with the boat since it's now in the driveway! Our house sits up pretty high in our neighborhood so we're good and dry. I did end up driving through a mudslide down the road on Monday morning. Someone's driveway got washed out into the road and there was about 6-10" of mud and rocks covering the road. The SS went right through it just like it did with the sleet storm we had last month! :D

We were without power for 4 1/2 days. It came back on last night. This morning I discovered out sump burned out and we have a foot and a half of water in the basement. Fun stuff. ;)

That sucks Ted. Glad your power is back. We now have a sump pump that we will probably never need again!

We're still cleaning out our basement. I think we lost the sofabed and love seat that were down there... and the tables we hadn't even taken out of the box yet. :( It doesn't smell so good down there either - should be a long weekend!
