What should I look for, things I should be aware of, etc. The car has a 6 spd, new engine and rebuilt transmission, new alternator, new clutch, new battery, 6500 miles on the engine and tranny so we're goin to check it out. Selling for $6500. Probably be able to bump it down a little bit.

Oil leaks are common on the LT1,as is a leaking water-pump,also do a high speed brake test to see if the front rotors are warped, good luck with your search for a new car .

I would probably pay attention to any odd noises or vibrations. Check the undercarriage for any damage. Seeing that it had both a rebuilt motor and tranny, it would lead me to speculate the car may have been beat on a bit.

Yeah im gonna keep lookin. Wish I had pictures. Ok, the guy said it was never drivin in the winter. We get there, and its covered in snow in a snow bank pretty much. Interior was shot and the dashboard had rips, had "flame" exhaust tips, altezza taillights, used to be a trooper car so it had those light things on the mirrors whatever they're called....250,000 miles total, looked like it had bondo cracks as well on the body on the quarter panel. It was modified too which I didn't like. Said he got it up to 160 mph in a half a mile. Yeah, i wasn't even thinking about putting down a deposit the whole time I was there. He also said the 93's and 94's were the fastest, is that bull**** or not cause to tell you the truth, I dont know. He said that they got slower in 1995.. Definitely not worth $6500, gonna keep lookin.

P.S - It's best to look at a car if it has pictures. If it has no pictures, just be aware that you might be disappointed.

I don't think the 93's and 94's were any faster,sounds like .
The 96's had another 10hp due to the fact they came equipped with two cats.
Don't worry too much about the year, just find an honest, stock example with as little miles as possible
Have you looked in the cars for sale section on this forum?

gonna keep looking sounds like a good idea

but if you do go back to this one and want to lowball I'd find out where that "new engine" came from and maybe talk about a warranty on it. If that is a brand new engine from GM or another reputable place then the car is probably worth some money, but for some reason I doubt that is the case

He rebuilt the engine himself. I tell you though, it sounded really nice. I just wish the car was in much much better shape than what I saw yesterday.

if he rebuilt and you can trust his work it'll probably be good for a few years but its just hard to tell.. anyways with the conditon being off and the fact that for that price you can probably start looking at something like a 99 or maybe even 00 with decent miles I'd be very heistant. Perosnally I'd try to go up to something like $8000ish and try to pull of a nice 00 or 01 with low miles

best of luck
