mehoffz24 04-11-2007, 11:47 PM i have had a problem with blow by with my engine since the day i started it up. so far i have about 4000 miles on it, the front and rear silicone gaskets on the intake leak, along with the rear main. since the machinist wont make good i need some advice. im still running the same set up in my sig. to try and band aid the situation i added a foam breather in each valve cover and im running the mr gasket crank case evac kit. that works well with 13 pounds of boost but if i ever wanted to step it up i would have to refresh this engine. my question is...... all you guys running 15#'s or more are you having a problem with oil leaks with a FRESH ENGINE. i understand that every engine needs crank case evac but mine is excessive.. please state your breather setups, pics, or if alot of people have oil leaks with boosted cars? thanks everybody!!!!
ZBLKHELLRZR 04-12-2007, 08:09 AM I'll take a stab at this even though my car isn't running yet. :(
Assuming your car is 95+. Cap off the port off the tb where that line goes to the ps VC. Put a breather on it or run it to a catch can. The actual pcv line I'd put a oil/water seperator between the pcv. Or you can run that line w/ a T and then connect it to the ps VC then to the catch can.
The way I'm doing mine is I'm running 2 breathers on the ps vc and 1 breather on the ds. TB ports are capped off. PCV has a oil/water seperator. My application is pullied for 22+psi. I'm a 93 so I'm not worried about unmetered air. Only pic I have is this here but doesn't show much.

97WS6Pilot 04-12-2007, 08:21 AM Mine had blowby for 5,000 miles then the rings finally seated. Those plasma moly rings are very hard to seat. I'd put some cheap light weight oil like 5W30 non synthetic oil in it. Then here comes the fun part. Get on it and wind it up. Also I would hook up your stock pcv system except for the passenger valve cover. Hopefully, its not too late for your rings or you have more serious problems.:)
FireChicken1995 04-12-2007, 11:54 AM maby this will help a lil, i know alot of guys say that the leaks are from lots of boost even with a good engine so im gonna run this on my car...

ZBLKHELLRZR 04-12-2007, 01:13 PM 350 bucks?! Ouch. Guess that's small price to pay vs a rebuild.

well take a look at some of the belt driven versions $$$$$$$$ if you really think about it whats $350 after you spend a few grand on a motor? can anyone speak for this kit? maby it will solve this dudes problems.

I've never seen an electric pump that moved much cfm. I'm interested to see if this works. There were some guys that tried to use the air/smog pump and it didn't last long or work well.:)
blazzen 04-12-2007, 05:26 PM well can't help you but in the same boat with rear main.I had a 383 built for a s-trim,afr210,and have had a problem with rear main. Engine builder has had 3 cracks at it since and cant figure it out.TO add to the drama i found out he used a 2pc rear main crank, not to happy bout after all that money spent. So I'm thinking of getting a layer to help me.
mehoffz24 04-13-2007, 01:11 PM thanks for all the suggestions guys!
zblk.. mine is set up just like yours, and im running evacuation kit.
ws6 pilot.. right now i have 10-40 in it with lucas but hopefully they will seat properly. at first i was thinking about that theory and hoping it was true, we'll see after this season when i run the **** out of it!
fire chicken.. good suggestion with the pump but to be honest i didnt want to spend that just to cover up this problem. i think it would be a real necessity if i was more boost than 13 #'s...
ill keep ya updated if i figure anything out!
mehoffz24 04-17-2007, 09:02 PM one more question,
since all the rain is gone ill be finishing up the TA tomorrow. here's the question.... since i have a breather in each valve cover and i also have the evacuation kit in each cover; do you think that the vacuum that the evac kit is making is pulling fresh air in the breather and its going right out the exh?
any more suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!!!
Jeff 96 SS 04-18-2007, 09:49 AM Your evac kit isn't doing anything if you still have breathers. Block off your breathers and beat the snot out of the car! I run the Morroso evac kit with no problems. Jeff
T/A KID 04-18-2007, 11:33 AM I was told with a Blower setup not to add breathers?? Just run the PCV from the driverside of the intake to a oil/Air seperator into the suckside of the blower, and be done with it. Thats what I plan on doing with my D1SC setup.
mehoffz24 04-18-2007, 02:40 PM thanks jeff!!!!!
i hope it works for you TA kid..i was planning on doing things a certain way till i got mine together and realized that it wasnt working as well as i thought..
jeff, does CAM still do your tuning? i was thinking of changing a few things and getting in touch with him again. i wonder if he'll come up here to jersey and tune at a local shop instead of me going to NC again.
LittleRedZ 04-18-2007, 03:07 PM another vote for the Morosso here, i run mr gasket i think though, anyways $30 from jeggs, just pick up some heater hose and you good to go.
T/A KID 04-18-2007, 04:15 PM Anyone else have any pics of there setup???

its simple, this kit is two breathers like canasters that go into your valve covers. Then you get these two bungs you weld them at the angle into your header collectors. connect them with 2" heater hose you buy at the parts store and you got yourself the chepest and best performing evac system.

CAM does all of my tuning. I will be down there this weekend trying to get my tird back together I'll see. I know he will travel if you have enough cars lined up. He comes up to Maryland a couple times a year too, that could save you 4 hours anyway. Jeff

So the Exhaust pulles the Vaccum from the motor, wouldn't my setup from the intake to the Procharger suckside do the same thing??? I am just trying to look at this logically. I'v seen guys run a -10 out of each valvecover to a Oil catchcan that vents to the Atmosphere but I don't see how that is pulling anything??

yeah but then you would suck oil into the blower why would you want to do that. And yes exhaust pulls pressure out of the motor and then burns whatever is access.

I have a Husky Brand Oil/Air Seperator between the Suckside of the Blower and the PCV setup on the intake, that should stop Oil from getting into the charger I would believe.
JZ28Max 04-19-2007, 03:35 PM i have mine setup with 2 moroso type valve cover breathers running to 2 oil separators (like you metioned t/a kid) and then to the blower inlet. would like to get the fittings to put them in the headers though because i am not sure with the oil seperators it is pulling very good vacum on the crankcase.

ur idea will work don't sweat it. I believe running it this way is pretty popular with the ls1 boys at tech.
