LT Headers With Spohn Torque Arm??

I got a really good deal on a spohn TA from a friend of mine, but I was looking them up and it says that they can't be used with LTs. I was planning on getting some Pacesetter LTs and running an x pipe and bullets, but I may have to do a mufflex 3.5 or 4" single exhaust. But I can only find mufflex y pipes for the hooker headers.

My brother knows a guy with an LT1 car that hes parting out and it has Hooker LTs on it so I'm going to try to get a good deal on those, but the exhaust irritating me right now. And I can't find the mufflex systems.

Any help would be great. And I have the tunnel mounted adj. TA without the driveshaft loop.

There are a couple different adjustable crossmember mounted torque arms from Spohn. One is designed to specifically work around long tube headers, that is the style I have.

This is the first I have heard about a problem w/ Pacesetter LT's and the Spohn torque arm. I have the adjustable Spohn torque arm (w/ the drive shaft loop) and am planning to get Pacesetter LT's for my new 383 stroker. What kind of clearance or fit problems am I likely to see? See sig for my car.

Well I don't have the TA on the car or a motor in it for that matter LOL, but I just saw when I was looking them up to see how good of a deal I got LOL

Can you post the pics of the difference on the TA thats for LTs and the one without.

Yeah there are TWO different cross brace mounted Spohn TAs...The difference is in the cross member...If it has a dip in it it will work fine for LTs...If its straight across, then its designed for mids/shorties, BUT will work with Kooks LTs because they tuck up higher than the other LTs...You can buy just the cross member to switch it out for around $175 I think...

Clearance is perfect with the headers. However, ground clearance is horrible. I have dragged the torque arm on several occasions over certain inclines. It can be tricky to drive the car in certain places.

I had the Spohn Adj TA with the dip in it for extra exhaust clearence and it dragged everywhere...hit a rut in the road once going about 50mph at night and it scared the sh!t out of me...it came off shortly after that but I did grind a large portion of it off for extra clearence but still not enough.
If I ever go back to that TA, I'll end up cutting that brace up and remaking it to fit my exhaust thats already there and give me the most ground clearence. This was with a stock ride height car too.

Wow, the roads around here aren't great, but they must be alot better than the roads that some of you guys have. The TA I have has the dip in it and has some rub marks on the bottom where it has been drug. I'm not too worried about it right now, but if it ends up being pretty bad I'll just fab up a new one around my exhaust.

I plan on moving in the near future, my next house will not have a steep incline of a driveway. Then the problem should be solved.:)

I have had my Spohn TA on for a few years and the car is lowered....never had a problem w/ the arm bottoming out....maybe I have been lucky. I will know in a few weeks if there is a fitment problem w/ the Pacesetter LT's, and I will post results. My cross brace does not have a dip in it. I appreciate the responses.

You have the one for shorties/mids...It will be hit or miss as to whether your Y-pipe will fit...I know that the Kooks LTs work with that TA because the headers tuck up high and the Y-pipe clears fine...Dunno about other brands...Might be worth giving Spohn a call and talk to Steve...

This is the old style mount, as far as ground clearance, this one is worse than the later tubular style w/ the "dip". I had used this straight one w/ JetHot/Hooker LTs w/ a Random Tech dual cat y-pipe(for TPIS LTs).
