MY shifter boot got caught on a bolt and ripped. i went on GMpartsdirect.com and the only thing i can find in the catalog is the entire assemly. Nedless to say, it cost 110 bux. no way. does anyone know the part number for just the leater boot. If i am unclear, it is Part # 17 in this diagram. Or is this just the boot and that is how much GM charges for the damn thing?

I didn't see anything helpful in that diagram you linked. Hit up a local GM dealership, they can probably find what you need. If nothing else, call them and get the p/n, then order it yourself. Saves the hassle of wading through endless assembly diagrams. Oh and btw, I got a 3rd gen shifter boot from http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com They also carry 4th-gen parts, and they might have what you need, either new or used.
