I have a shop installing my new fuel pump on Monday. This is the pump that I bought because it was recommended to me by some friends.

Will the shop have any problems installing this pump? I heard that some modifications need to be made with some aftermarket fuel pumps. I am worried about something going wrong in the install and them saying that it wont fit or something. Also, will the stock wiring be good enough to run this pump? Thanks for the help.

They may have to trim the ribs in the pump bucket a bit. Not a big deal.

I'm just afraid they will say that it wont fit. I hope they are smart enough to do that. Thanks for the response.

Always a good idea to ask them first if they have had previous experience with installing an aftermarket pump into an f-body or doing any aftermarket work on them in general.

I know they haven't done any aftermarket work. They installed a stock replacement fuel pump in my Dad's 91 RS though recently. Hopefully they can figure it out. It should be fairly simple for a mechanic though right?

Just to update the guys said it was the wrong pump. I told them they needed to trim the ribs on the fuel bucket but they still insisted it was the wrong pump. They also said the wiring was different? I don't know. They ended up putting a stock pump back in it though. It was more expensive but I needed the car back. I was going to try the trap door method but my Dad wouldn't let me do it. He said I had to get it done the right way no matter how much it cost. So I am out more money, have a stock pump back in, but at least the car is running again and my Dad is happy.
