Do i really need a fuel pressure gauge to relieve gas pressure in the fuel lines in order to install a new filter??? I just want to put it in already without having to wait to buy this damn thing.

A gauge is only useful if the line is under pressure and since the system drains after time you have very little if any. shoebox 03-19-2007, 11:30 PM Do i really need a fuel pressure gauge to relieve gas pressure in the fuel lines in order to install a new filter??? Who said you needed one? http://shbox.com/1/fuel_filter.html 2000GTP 03-20-2007, 10:08 AM You would use the fuel pressure gauge more or less to test the integrity of the fuel system, not to do a maintenance repair of a fuel filter swap. I just uncapped the gas cap to relieve the pressure. Otherwise, when you break the lines to get the fuel filter off, you will be taking a bath in gas. shoebox 03-20-2007, 05:08 PM Removing only the gas cap only, does not relieve pressure in the lines. If it has been sitting for a while there may be little pressure left in the lines, anyway. Mine will still have some pressure 12 hrs or more after the engine is turned off. | ||
