Kit shutting off in 3rd gear

I finally got my kit hooked up with the new bottle heater and purge. I was spraying it tonight when I noticed that it seems to lose its steam when I go into third gear. I know for sure it is working in first and second because the car is all over the place and traction is obsolete, but when I go into third it feels stock. I got on it again and while I was in 3rd gear I reached down and shut the arming switch off, killing the kit. There was no noticable loss in power. I am spraying a 150 shot through a Nitrous Works plate kit. I am also using a Mallory 685 ignition box and am pulling out 4 degrees of timing when the kit is activated. Right now I actually am bypassing the FPSS because I kinda thought that was the problem, but now, even with that bypassed, it is still falling on its face.

Any suggestions guys?

How many times has it happened? Do you have a WOT switch? Did the bottle still have good pressure by the time you got into 3rd?

New to nitrous but did you test it by arming it once you were already in 3rd gear? Maybe it is freezing up as you spray?

If it only happened once, I am thinking maybe he lost bottle pressure or a wire came loose somewhere. If he has a WOT switch, maybe he hurt it somehow when he did the shift and got back into it? DirtyDan, thats a good idea, I hadnt even thought of that.

Yes I do have a WOT switch but as I said in the first post, I have it bypassed right now.

What do you mean by maybe it is freezing up on me??

Could losing bottle pressure really make it lose that much power??? I had the heater on the whole time but I did not have a way to see if I lost pressure or now while I was driving the car.

I dont know about that much power, but if you had a bottle heater, I would probably rule that out.

as far as pressure goes, my grand prix with 75 shot before i got a heater, at 600 bottle pressure went 14.5 in the 1/4 and with the heater and 1050 psi it went 13.89 so yeah, id say the pressure is a pretty big factor in power loss, but if its whoopin arse in 1 and 2 gears, im thinking that the soleniod could possibly be freezing up, i wouldnt run them for more than 13-15 seconds continuously, you might also want to check the nozzle and see if something got clogged in the jet during the run. Another think i know i had a problem with, was that when i did my first nitrous kit i didnt use a relay and supposedly that not good for the noids. How long have you had the kit? perhaps the noid just needs a rebuild. Have you let everything cool down and try it in JUST 3rd gear? another thing to check, is to see if jamming the throttle on and off between shifts hasnt bent the WOT switch lever or the mount itself. try all that out and let us know if its giving you some trouble

What is your bottle pressure?
What is your airfuel?
What is your fuel pressure?

These three things are very important to know.

fuel pressure around 40 psi
a/f have no clue
bottle pressure 1050psi

I recently put a electric pressure gauge on the car and then warmed the bottle up to 1050 and tried it. there was a night and day difference than before. I haven't went a full run to see if it will stay on but i hit it in 2nd and it went sideways, then in 3rd it kept on spinning them until i let off. maybe my pressure just wasn't high enough.

Yes if your bopttle pressure was below 900 that could be your problem. You really need to know your airfuel unless you are reading the spark plugs. Other wise you may be playing with fire.

A friend of mine has a wide band that we are going to hook up this weekend and log a few runs on. I have checked the plugs and they look fine but I would rather have a A/F ratio to go off of.
