Whats the narrowest tire I can put on a front 17x9.5 zr1 rim? Could I put a 245 on it? The reason I ask is because my car has manual rack and pinion and when I am not at the drag strip and want to cruise around town on the weekends I want to put a set of zr1s on it. I know I won't be able to turn the wheel sitting still but when moving it shouldn't be that bad with a narrow tire up front.

Go to Tire Rack and check the various tire sizes. For any given size, each manufacturer may have a different recommended wheel width. There are quidelines in the FAQ stickied at the top of the Wheels and Tires topic listing, but those are tne numbers "most" manufacturers use, but not all.

245's will fit but look like ass on a 9.5" rim. They look WAY too narrow on a 9.5" rim. Try looking for a 255 which should work a bit better. I'm not sure if they make a 255 that would have the right sidewall height though.
