hey guys, I have a 96 m6 z28 and the trans has got about 110,000 miles on it, so its pretty rough..Im also driving it everyday and some street racing w/ the occasional track run, I was thinking a well built auto, with a good converter would be faster and more accurate in what I need it for. I just dont know anything about auto trans... should I go with a 700r4, or a built 4l60 from cahall or performabuilt?? either way I need to know what parts I need to buy to get this down, the most complete list you guys can think of would be a big help..
Thank you in advance for all your help!!..I really appreciate it,
Chris

I'm about to do that swap next month. I'm going with a 4L60E. If you use a 700R4 you won't need to worry about the wiring harness.
Transmission
Torque Converter
Converter cover
Shifter and cable
Console shifter plate
Crossmember
Trans mount
Trans cooler
Cooler lines or make your own
Torque converter and flexplate bolts
Flexplate
PCM retuned
Wiring harness
Pedals or remove clutch pedal
Sheetmetal to fill hole in the floor
Thats pretty much everything I think

I just did the conversion to a 6-speed - so I have all my parts from the 4l60e if you want to purchase them.... including petals, shifting assembly, cross-member, torque arm bracket, flywheel, wiring harness, etc. etc.
