What are the right parameters for a external fuel pump

=> pressure

=>flow rate

I assume you are asking about a primary pump, not a "booster" pump, and that you are mounting it "externally" because that's convenient for your 69 Camaro fuel tank.

Your pump needs to be able to flow the fuel requirement of your engine's flywheel HP, plus a 25% allowance for recirculation (assuming you are using a recirculated system) at the fuel pressure you choose to run the injectors at. An LT1 fuel system normally runs at 43.5psi (3 bar).

So.... you need a pump that can flow (roughly, in liters per hour) 0.41 X your flywheel HP @ 43.5psi. Example:

400 flywheel HP x 0.41 = 164 LPH @ 43.5psi

That is based on the assumption that you are not running a power adder, and that you can achieve a brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) of 0.50 #/HR/HP or less, and that you are using fuel with a specific gravity of about 0.74 (6.2 #/Gal).
