Metal pipe on front of water pump
Hello, I got a replacement non AC/Delco water pump a couple of months ago. Last night my son drove it and the metal elbow piece that is on the bottom left (facing car)-hose goes in the direction of the battery came out. A "parking lot mechanic" told him the "O" ring blew out. They used electrical tape to seal it. No one at AutoZone could say for sure if it had a "O" ring or what. Is it fixable or is it pressed in or does the whole pump needs replacing. Use a sealant to glue it in?? Thanks for any help. P.S I know i should have went AC/Delco now.
I took a look at an old water pump in the garage and I'm almost certain all the pipes are pressed in. FWIW when my original pump went south I replaced it with a new pump from NAPA which was significantly cheaper than the GM pump. At this point the NAPA pump has been on the car longer than the OEM pump. HTH
Thanks for the replies--So no way to repair without replacing pump?? New 'O" ring or tape sealant, glue sealant? Its under warranty still, but my step-son is the installer and wont be able to replace it if necceasry till Thursday--thanks Dwayne
