1-bad-z28 03-17-2007, 08:50 PM I just got my Mcleod street twin in the mail. I was looking over the directions and it seems to be pretty particular how you install this thing. Anybody who has installed it, please give me some pointers. I have installed many clutches in my time but none were like this. Thanks.
1 DWN CAM 03-18-2007, 01:16 AM Put the unit on the car EXACTLY how it came in the mail. Your going to have to dis-assemble the unit to attach the flywheel to the back of the crank. Make sure you account for every shim on every stand all the way around the unit. Shimming is the Key to releasing both the Top and Bottom discs. If one side has to many shims and the other side does not have enough that's when you run into release issues. The unit comes pre checked with .500" inch of release and that's plenty. Good Luck!
1-bad-z28 03-18-2007, 02:13 AM It says it needs to be between .020 and .025 inches. It also says the master cylinder has to be changed also. It will be a couple of days before i can install the clutch. My electric water pump is being rebuilt by CSR so I won't be able to take it to my cousins lift. I was wondering if I could put the new master cylinder on now, and drive over there in a couple of days?
1 DWN CAM 03-18-2007, 10:24 PM You could try it.
danhr 03-18-2007, 10:26 PM the master cylinder is actually the hardest part of installing that clutch....
def. doable but you will want a jack.

The master cylinder is straight forward but best to have 2 guys; one to attached the nuts on the interior side of the firewall and the other to put the master cylinder back in place. Also be sure to fully bleed the assembly after attaching the new master cylinder.
1-bad-z28 03-19-2007, 12:28 AM cool thanks. I'll wait for the lift in a couple of days. I can't wait to get this thing on the road again. It started slipping about a year ago. I probably haven't put 100 miles on it since. One more question... is the break-in the same as other clutches? Around 500 miles stop and go driving?
ablackcamaro 03-19-2007, 09:14 PM i just sent a street twin out for rebuild .. does it come with an alignment tool? if not, will a tool designed for single disc's still work? (i'd imagine so but just wanna make sure..)

The splines on the clutch disk will be the same so I don't see why not
1-bad-z28 03-21-2007, 10:08 PM The alighnment tool is exactly the same as any other. I got this thing installed last night. It is alot harder to drive than the Centerforce. It has no feathering what so ever. It is either in or out...no in between. It will take a little to get used to. It is badass though.

BE SURE TO CHANGE FACTORY FLEX TUBE ON MASTER TO RES .
Its a lot harder to change later and the metal master will cut the older factory line.

1-bad-z28 03-22-2007, 10:03 PM Good to know now that I have it in. Thanks anyways. I will try to get to it soon though.

Sorry bad,
Would have posted up earlier just didn't see it. I didnt change that tube on my car either and it was dripping brake fluid slowly. I had to keep adjusting master on a track day just to disengage clutch, didn't figure out it was the tube till I got car home.

Just be nice to it for a first time, try not to overheat it. It will become much more streetable after break-in.

What is the purpose of this?
I noticed that on my McLeod master cylinder the hose fitting is actually to small. Even clamped the hose will leak.
Purplemaroz28 07-17-2007, 10:07 PM putting in the adjustable master cylinder made me want to cry.
Flyin_Z28 07-17-2007, 10:51 PM I don't find it hard to install the master anymore, after installing it for the 4th time. :(
I found my master cylinder leaking and there was an issue with the end fitting. There wasn't sufficient clearance machined into the notch to clear the cylinder. The fitting was actually on a very slight angle allowing brake fluid to seep past the seals. I had to file away material to allow the fitting to seat properly.
Seals fine now!!
valter 07-17-2007, 11:19 PM I still have mine on my shelf :D :o
