The January 2003 issue of GM High-Tech Performance magazine has a detailed article on battery relocation.

I was just going to say the same thing as Fred. The Jan issue has a detailed article on how to do it.

The only thing that I don't like is the battery placement. My car has t-tops and the battery relocation goes right where the tops are stored. BMR makes a bracket that mounts in the spare tire location. The BMR kit is not a battery box just a hold down bracket which will not pass tech. Over winter I'm gona try to relocate the battery in an enclosed case using the BMR bracket. I still would like to be able to drive the car on the street with the tops off. The more I race the less the car is on the street.

The GMHTP article is good but it does not mention anything about how to wire the system to shut down the electrical system/alternator as mandated by NHRA rules. Anyone have any thoughts or links on that?

A fellow Board Member "Steve10" sells some pretty cool stuff, including a battery disconnect switch.

Check it out at: http://www.mycamaroz28.homestead.com/

http://flamingriver.com/enter.htm Give these peeps a try on the disconnect switch, looks pretty trick to me. I ordered mine from a local parts store for around 90 bucks. And yes it does help, weight transfer, and of course make the engine bay look alot better!!

edit; scroll down to the battery switches and click on the racing one, its at the bottom of the page.

Yes. The issue with the feature article about the "Eleven LT1 Bolt-On Cars That Haul".... many of them from this board.

Are you not aware that many magazines are post-dated by several months? I received the January 2003 issue (Volume 9, No. 1) at least three weeks ago...........
