Hey guys, New member here

I'm in the market for a Camaro/Trans Am with 50 to 70 thousand miles on it. Can one be had in good condition for around 10 - 12 grand? I want the newer body style 98-02 I have a 94 v-6 vert now but want something faster. Can you guys give me any suggestion for what to look for when shopping? I live in the mid atlantic area, and attend the University of Delaware. I reside in Southern Delaware during the summer.

Thanks alot

Frank

Did you look in the For Sale section of this site?

If so and you can't find anything, www.ls1tech.com has a TON of F-bodies for sale in their For Sale section.

I bought my 98 z/28 a year ago, at 55k miles, for $8K. if you keep yourself picky, you can find great deals.
10-12 should do ya fine. you can mabee even find one at a dealer for that price.

Not in you mileage range, but I am selling my 92k mile '98 Z28 that is in above average condition. $8K all stock, well with an SLP lid. It is bright green metallic, of which only 139 Z28's were made in this color. Transmission is a T56 that was freshened up after the pilot bearing croaked last summer. It was rebuilt with steel shift forks, and the pilot bearing, clutch master and slave were also replaced. The clutch was in great shape and not replaced. The fuel pump was replaced at Christmas time with new GM. All of the fluids, belts and hoses are fresh, and I average >21 mpg in the car. I really don't beat on it, just short bursts usually under 4K rpm.

New Nitto DR's were put on last week, and I plan to go to the strip for the first time Friday night. PM me if interest. The car is in the Dallas area, by DFW airport. Fly in, drive home. Nothing wrong with this car.

that’s a pretty good deal and you are absolutely correct when somebody is buying something they never should forget that they are the customer and never settle for something they don't want

one little trick I have found that helps: if you are buying from a bigger GM dealership they don't really want to spend hours bargaining or whatever on a used car... so when calling up I just simply call and ask for something specific and then they'll probably list of a few options they have... then kind of go the route: hey I don’t want to waste my time coming if for any BS and then sometimes the salesman will let you know his bottom line price right up front just to get you in the door

For a recommendation I would say look for a 01 with lower miles... the 02 would be great but since it was the last year and high demand / reduced availability there is probably affecting price

updated: out of curiosity I just checked and Endmunds put the 01 at just over 10K and put the 02 at just under 13K...
