I'm looking at buying a STB next, to help stiffen my suspension. I'd prefer a 3-point design, which limits my choices to Edelbrock, LG motorsports, and Kenny Brown.
Do the pivoting STB's such as Edelbrock and Hotchkis defeat the purpose of a STB or do they still provide strength because the length never changes. I'd prefer a LG motorsports 4-point but I can get a good deal on an Edelbrock 3-point right now.

Just my personal opinion, but the swivel braces sort of
defeat the purpose of it. Keeps towers from moving in and
out but do not add regidety that I wanted.:(
I made my own as well as others with my intake in mind.
Am running the MiniRam so was able to go straight across
the engine bay instead of having to arch it.
Two 1 1/2"x 6" plates, 1 1/4 tubing, nice looking gussets
at each end and tig welded. Two 3/8 grade 9 bolts at each
end of the plates and bolts to the top of the towers.;)
Looks like was a factory option, Shuda been:rolleyes:
Going to run a little smaller tubing from tower plates to
cowl area after I make up plate brace under the lip of the
cowl.

IMO a STB is only eye candy on a 4th Gen as there is minimal flex in long/short arm setup. The 3rd Gen strut setup benefited from a STB. Lots of posts on this topic, do a SEARCH.

I agree as to third and forth gen front suspension not
being the same, but a little bracing and small weight
penalty in a sub frame car can't hurt.
In my car running front coilovers made a noticable
improvement. Alot of cars out there new and old, OEM,
that have run the brace in one form or the other.;)
In my case running a strong one piece brace between
top strut mounts helps keep alignment specs in hand and
added support for the coilovers.

I always thought of them as hinges. Never made much sense to me.
