My '06 GTO vs. '06 Stang

I was driving back to work during my lunch break in my quicksilver GTO M6 when I get caught at a light. I look in my rear view mirror and I see this black '06 Mustang GT rolling up on me. He pulls up and I look over and give him a little blip of the throttle. He rolls down his window and asks, "How does it run?" I replied "Pretty good." He grinned and looked up at the light. I asked, "You wanna run?" "Yeah." he replied and proceeded to rev his engine. I reved up to about 2500 RPMs and glanced up at the light. It flashed green and I let the clutch out. My traction control kicked in and the IRS bounced around a little, by the time I finally got going he already had a car length on me. That's when I noticed his car was louder than I expected it to be making me think he had an aftermarket cat back. So, I stayed about a car length behind him. When we got up to about 70ish I was pulling on him a little, but not enough to catch up. I see him brake and I realize I just lost my first real race in my new GTO. We slow down to about 45 and I ask him if he had an aftermarket exhaust. "Yeah, and a pully and a tune." he replied. So now I hear him downshift. I guess we are going to go at a roll from about 45. I downshift to second and the RPMs were at about 5K. I hear him go, so I hit it and the goat pulls away very slightly until we are doing about 100. We go again with the same results. Then, on the third time the traction control kicked in and I bogged down and just sat there at 50ish as he drove away.
Yeah, I know I should have turned off the traction control, but this car is new and I have a hard time driving it with skinny little 235 tires on the back and the IRS hopping everywhere like a rabbit every time I want to go from a light. I really need to figure out how to launch this thing without traction control before I race a real car again.

Once again anytime a Mustang beats any LS1, LS2, or whatever the immediate conclusion is he must be supercharged, turbod, or spraying. If that thing was supercharged he is not just going to be running an exhaust and a pully and a tune, hes gonna have all the rest of the boltons as well and hes gonna be walking that GTO not pulling slightly over a 100, hes gonna be walking it. The guy lost because he is not good at launching yet and the GTO's have way undersized tires and the traction control killed him too. A new GT with exhaust, pully and a good computer tune did exactly what it should have to a stock GTO that wasnt driven by a professional, and im not knocking the guy with the GTO. Ive driven them and traction control kills cars and the tire size is stupid, LS1 SS Camaros came with 275s, why the hell the GTOs didnt is beyond me. Either way he got beat, a good launch and those cars should be relativly even.

245 tires. And never, ever race with your traction control on. I'm surprised you even stayed close, killing the tc like you were. You probably would've hurt him pretty good if you had it turned off. You won't wheel hop nearly so bad either. Just ease into the throttle and don't get too deep into the spin and you'll get it moving pretty easily.

So all the GT needs to run with the LS2 is a pulley and tune? Wanna bet?

Well actually it had an exhaust too. So actually yea I would say that a new GT with exhaust, pully, and a good computer tune will run with a poorly driven LS2 and will be very close to a well driven. Wanna bet on it. Douch.

Easy on the insults..... Were talking about a GT thats probably running 13.40s-50s with a good driver and those mods...The Goat driven like it should can hit 12.80s-90s from what Ive seen....Most hit 13.20s-30s...Like a LS1 (LS1ROCKS WHOO HOO).....

So yeah..the race goes to the GT because of unexperiance from the GTO Driver....Car for Car....LS2 GTO leaves that GT in the Rear View!!!

Car for car the GTO has 100 more hp, so it should be a forgone conclusion that it will beat the GT. With the GTs mods it will be very very close to the GTO, and I have never seen a GTO trap in the 12s stock. I would need to see the time slip on it because that would mean that it is as fast if not faster then the C6 and it is not.

When did I ever say that they didnt win stock for stock and mod for mod. Generally once again when a car has a 100 hp advantage from the start it will remain ahead when all the same mods are applied to it.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, but he didn't pull on me over 100. Our runs from a roll where from about 45 to about 100, where I pulled about a half to a full car length on him (not sure excactly because he disappeared from my periphrial vision out the drivers side window) except for on the third run from a roll where my traction control kicked in and basically stayed on (at about 50 mph) and I was left sitting there. The traction control turns on between every shift during the roll runs also because the GTO breaks traction in the upshift for the 2-3 and 3-4 shift. So, I'm sure that hurt me from a roll too. It's a pain remembering to turn that thing off every time I get in the car. With my '94 Z28, I didn't have to worry about this...

Since you resort to name calling when someone has a different opinion than you, I'd say you're the douch. And if you think a pulley, tune and exhaust makes a 300 hp car run even with a 400 hp car, you need to get out more. Those mods might add 25 hp, they sure don't make up for a 100 hp deficit....sorry if pointing that out bruised your ego.

TC will kill you. You probably lost a second with each shift. The fact that you still managed to get ahead a couple times says a lot about your car.
