I think I just got a deal

Well at first I was going to get a set of tires online, because they are cheaper there. I'm getting 275/40/17 Firestone wide ovals. For poops and giggles, I called up my local firestone and asked them how much would 4 run me. He told me somewhere around 1100 (the only thing I actually remember is that it was a 4 digit number). So I asked if they would price match the price that i found, 148.10/each. He paused and told me to wait a second... and he came back with a price of 152/each, as opposed to the retail of 199.99 he tried earlier. Not only that but he said that their tire warranty plan is NOT pro rated for 3 years. So any of my tires go kaboom in 3 years, I get a free one across the street, no pro-rated fee crap. that set me back about 50 a tire. so $800 I got a set of 275/40/17 Firestone Wide ovals, mounted and balanced, old tires disposed of, and a non-pro rated 3 year warranty (After 3 years it becomes pro rated).

you ALWAYS get a better deal than online. You need to figure in shipping and additonal charges to get those tires installed. Plus, what happens if an online tire goes bad? road hazard coverage? rotations and balancing? very inconvinient to me

Not always true. I got my Nitto 555R's from Discount Tire Direct online for a pretty good price (better then what Discount tire told me by quite a bit), with free shipping and no taxes. Then I went to Discount tire and told them I got the tires from DTD and they charged my 20$ ($10ea.) to put them on and balance them. I saved quite a bit over getting them from anywhere local.
