A4 to M? in 88 camaro

i have a 700r4 in ma camaro and a wanna put a stick in it. i wanna good top speed and good gas milage. wats tha best trans to get to handle ALOT of power and last, but for a good price. i would like a six speed. has any one done this swap in a 3rd gen. if sooo did tha shifter fit in the stock place? do yall have some pics? thanx o, ma camaro has a carb. 350 could i hit a junk yard to find a camaro that had a stick for tha trans and pedels?

first thing u need to decide exactly what you want to do
the 6 speed swap is a popular swap
a 6 speed from an lt1 will bolt up to your engine easy, lt1 hydraulics will bolt up, u'll need a swap crossmember, u can keep the stock driveshaft
you will need pedals from any 3rd gen with a manual (from 85 up, older ones dont use hydraulics) since ur starting with an automatic you'll need to cut a hole for the shifter but it will come out close to thr stock location. and you'll need the shifter plate and boot from a manual tranny third gen

I did the swap on my 88 Formula a few years ago.
Took us a day and a half to swap tranny's between my Formula and my friend GTA. I convinced him to go with an Auto. :D

t5 won't last long behind a decent motor.

best choice is the t56....the ones from 94-97 LT1 cars can handle the most power and have the best gear ratios (93 was different).
