help , pinion angle

i just installed an adj. torq arm and need to figure out how to set pinion angle . does it just need to point an the back of the trans? or point below the back of trans. or above ? i need traction ! this is a street car (kinda) :D

I'm not sure if Camaros came with CV rear shafts, but if it's a standard shaft, the rear pinion has to be at the same angle as the trans, ie. if you drew a line out from the pinion and a line out from the output shaft, the two lines would be parallel. If your rear shaft is a CV shaft, then the pinion should be pointed slightly below the output shaft (below because the pinion jumps up under accelleration). I hope that clears things up a little.

I recently installed one from Steve Spohn. The directions say to put the car up in the air at ride height, meaning front and back are even height, so the car is resting as it would sit on the ground: level, with the weight on the wheels. The easiest way to do this is with a lift you drive onto, or if you don't have that, use 4 ramps that are all the same height. You need an angle finder. You measure the angle that the driveshaft is at, and the angle that the torque arm is at, and subtract one from the other. Spohn recommends -2*. I could give you a better explanation if I could find the directions... but I just moved, and they're in one of 20some boxes I've got stacked in the corner.
