Speaker Installation?????

Does anyone out there have any helpful tips on installing new speakers in the front door panels, ie. getting to the speakers? wiring them with the factory Monsoon HU and Amp? etc. etc.

Door panel comes off if the best way, the cover over the speaker is removable but dont give access to all screws

do NOT try and take the speaker cover off...you will break it....take the door panel off...and you will have access to the whole shootin match......what kind of car you drivin? might want to put this question in the car audio section....might get a better response

With regards to wiring speakers -- are you planning on coaxials or components? If coaxials, then you will either decide if you wish to modify the speaker - or go for as "plug and play" as possible. If you think you are up for modifying speakers or wiring, let me know. If not - the simplest way is to throw in a set of coaxial speakers, and then only use ONE set of wires that go to the current component speakers (4 wires per side...use 2 for the new speakers). Not sure which gets the most power, but I'd assume the factory woofer component wires -- but you can try both and go with what sounds best to you.

EDIT: Do you have a Camaro or a Firebird? If Firebird...components speakers might be more desirable in front..

This is (was) the door from my '99 Trans Am. If you have a Camaro it should be pretty much the same.

1) Remove the screw and triangular plastic piece.

2) Pop off the control panel and unplug the harnesses from it.

3) Remove the screw.

4) Remove the plastic door lock piece.

5) Remove this panel and the large screw that is under it that holds the door trim panel in place. There is a small LED in the handle panel that needs to be un-plugged.

6, 7 & 8) Remove 3 large screws like the one in step 5.

You're now ready to remove the panel. It might help if you have someone unplug the wires to the speakers as you begin to remove the panel.

You will need to lift UP on the panel and pull it toward you as you remove it. There are large plastic hooks on the inside of the trim panel that go into holes in the door. There is one very close to the mid-woofer in the door so use caution here or you might poke a hole in your speakers with the hook.

To the door...as mentioned - yes, it must come off if you plan on: not breaking things, getting all the screws out, having more room to work with wires, etc, etc...
