camaro stuck

my camaro is stuck on a pile of snow that turned to ice. it seems like the frame of the car is just resting on it which sucks cause the tires just barely touch the ground. any tips to getting it off w/o calling a tow truck or waiting for the ice to melt? haha

Jack it up and put blocks under the wheels

chisel away at the snow and ice? thats what i have to do when i get home because the rear wheels are stuck on snow and ice for some reason..

start it and just let it run?.. turn the heater on full blast.. be sure to keep a hole in front of the radiator so it doesnt over heat due to no air flow.. let the exhuast and heater thaw it out... i dont know.. hell i live in texas..haha..

get some buckets of hot water, it'll probably tun back to ice but it;ll melt down and run off first

Judging from above, you have plenty of options that don't involve spending a couple hundred bucks on a tow charge. :) I would probably start with the hot buckets of water.

use hot buckets of water and let the car run and warm up you get it out . i had to put hot water on my doors to get them open after 1 inch tick ice on my car from frezzing rain . and hose will work all well just takes longer and refeezes faster .

Water, unlike most liquids, expand when frozen. Thats most likely why your car has been lifted.

Depending on how cold it is, the buckets of hot water would work fine. Add some ice melt or rock salt to the water and really go to town. Just don't put the ice melt/salt mix on the car. I'll caution you about putting hot water on your windows though. Use warm water there or you can crack them.

If that doesn't work, steam cleaners aren't that expensive to rent.

Get a flexible piece of hose that can withstand some heat. Put one end over a tailpipe. Put the other end under the car where the hot exhaust gas can hit where the ice is. Run the engine for a bit, and it will melt whatever is in the way.

good idea.....but I imagine it would be pretty difficult to obtain such hosing on a college campus... also, unless he can get something like that from the engineering dept or something...who wants to pay for hoses when water is cheaper (most likely).

thanks again guys. i was actually pulling into a spot, the only one available and i was in a rush to get to class, and i didnt notice that a small wheelbase car or suv was in there before me so i just went for it and only made it half way in. i got it out early this morning though. i just had a friend sit on my rear fender to put help gain traction to the rear wheel that was spinning and it came right out. didnt need the hot water afterall.

i sat behind my car with a hammer for almost an hour yesterday beating away the ice that was built up behind my tires.. i tried boards, i was afraid to try hot water because it was FREEZING out so it probably would have iced up.. what it eventually came down to was my frustration led me to just floor it in reverse and the car just started sliding in both directions sideways and then just hopped up and over the ice and i took off down the driveway.. dont **** with them V8s ya hear?

I've got this same problem, I just bought a house and my camaro is chilling next to my moms house.. where it's been all winter. Well, now since I have a 2 car garage it's stuck in a foot deep bank of snow all around it... and nothing in my garage.
