Will there be a Pontiac version of the 5th Gen Camaro? If so what will it be called? I've only heard rumors about it but nothing definitive. Can someone please get back to me on this?

What about Pontiac?68Firebird350ho 02-14-2007, 01:42 PM Will there be a Pontiac version of the 5th Gen Camaro? If so what will it be called? I've only heard rumors about it but nothing definitive. Can someone please get back to me on this? JasonD 02-14-2007, 01:58 PM Since this is about the 2009 Camaro, I have moved it to that forum. Check the sticky "Super FAQ" thread at the top of it. That answer is in there. Will there be a Firebird? No. The GTO will take over as Pontiac's halo car. It's a better bet for Pontiac, since it will be the larger, more "upscale" RWD V8 coupe. Thus, not competing with the Camaro. For more information, see this thread: http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=453914 Of course, all that information is subject to change, since it often does. 68Firebird350ho 02-14-2007, 02:16 PM Thanks Jason, somehow i had a feeling the 2010 Firebird was not going to make it to production. hyperv6 02-14-2007, 03:04 PM No Firevbirds are planned anytime in the near future if ever. Look for a coupe with a longer wheel base than the Camaro to show up if anything. It also will be a more expensive car thant he Camaro too. If it appears it could be a GTO or some other name but not a Bird. The only thing for sure if there is no Bird in the works. 68Firebird350ho 02-14-2007, 03:52 PM Ever since i saw a 3d rendering of a possible GTO in November's Road & Track I've been curious about it. Thanks again guys. toegead93 02-14-2007, 07:35 PM I thought the GTO was a go. Guess it's not 100% yet? ChrisL 02-14-2007, 07:40 PM I thought the GTO was a go. Guess it's not 100% yet? There's been very very little mentioned about a future GTO. With the announcement of the G8, a RWD performance sedan, I'd be shocked to see Pontiac without a RWD performance coupe in their lineup. Some of the things mentioned above have been hinted as a possible direction things could go. Time will telll. 2000GTP 02-14-2007, 08:22 PM There have been rumors and ideas tossed out there of aftermarket appearance kits that can make a Firebird clone out of a Camaro. That may be as close as you get. triggerjerk 02-15-2007, 08:11 PM The new autoweek says that the camaro is still TWO YEARS AWAY. It will be here in early 2009. This is based on an interview with lutz. I think alot could change in two years. Funny how they can make a gto but not a firebird. guionM 02-16-2007, 01:35 AM The new autoweek says that the camaro is still TWO YEARS AWAY. It will be here in early 2009. Didn't read the sticky, did you? triggerjerk 02-16-2007, 03:01 PM Didn't read the sticky, did you? What does the sticky have to do with a new autoweek issue quoting lutz? And yes, I've read about all of the bogus reasoning behind keep the firebird dead. GM will not sell 100,000 camaros alone. Continue to hate on the firebird all you want. JasonD 02-16-2007, 03:26 PM What does the sticky have to do with a new autoweek issue quoting lutz? Nothing, but it does have a lot to do with the comments about the GTO and Firebird. And yes, I've read about all of the bogus reasoning behind keep the firebird dead. What makes you think they are "bogus"? Read the sticky. There are plenty of solid statements made that explain things. Yes, the truth sucks but they are true statements made, which makes them the opposite of "bogus". It's not like GM wants to keep Firebird enthusiasts unhappy. I can guarantee you that if they could build it while gaining solid financial results, they most certainly would. GM will not sell 100,000 camaros alone. Don't put money on that statement. :) Continue to hate on the firebird all you want. Make no mistake, there is little to no "hate" for the Firebird here. The majority of the people here would like a Firebird back just as much as anyone else. Less than that amount are willing to accept the reasons why. Yes, it sucks but yes, it is the way things are. Mjolnir 02-16-2007, 03:57 PM That was an extremely professional smack down. JasonD 02-16-2007, 04:07 PM That was an extremely professional smack down. By me? Definitely wasn't meant to be! :o I was just trying to set the record straight. 68Firebird350ho 02-17-2007, 11:18 AM Wow!! This post is getting more recognition than I thought it would:cool:, maybe someone at GM will take a look at this and consider creating a concept Firebird/GTO.:D Casull 02-17-2007, 11:21 AM Wow!! This post is getting more recognition than I thought it would:cool:, maybe someone at GM will take a look at this and consider creating a concept Firebird/GTO.:D Lol... that'd be cool. It is only getting this kind of recognition becasue you are surrounded by enthusiests though. If this were the general public the response would be completely different. | ||
