If I remember right, they are push handles rather than pull handles... if that makes sense. Instead of lifting or pulling on the handle, you push on it to open the door... or something of the sort. I say they should keep them as a theft deterrent! I mean seriously, how can someone steal your car if they don't even know how to get in! At an expected production run of 100,000 cars, I am sure everyone who wants to know will. :D savage99ss 02-12-2007, 11:22 AM tks for the info 2000GTP 02-12-2007, 01:26 PM I totally overlooked that, that is a pretty unique feature. Definitely something that I am not used to on a GM car, or any car for that matter. Big Als Z 02-12-2007, 09:37 PM I belive thas how Aston's are as well. CCoop8830 02-13-2007, 02:10 PM Wow thats is sweet! Much better than anything else out there IMO. Shaved handles are alright, but don't work on some cars. And the new Vettes look kinda goofy too, but the touchpad is sweet. present address 02-26-2007, 02:20 PM yeah that is gonna be a sob in an ice storm.... to open that baby up EllwynX 02-26-2007, 05:27 PM yeah that is gonna be a sob in an ice storm.... to open that baby up No need to worry. They won't be staying like that for production. Though I can see your point if they did. LOL jg95z28 02-26-2007, 07:02 PM I though Lutz already hinted that the door handles were changing. EllwynX 02-26-2007, 08:44 PM I though Lutz already hinted that the door handles were changing. He did. And the most recent comment he made regarding the size rumors he said something about noticing differences only by checking out the door handles. chevyfreak1822003 02-27-2007, 07:49 AM I though Lutz already hinted that the door handles were changing. yea he says right here Originally Posted by Bob Lutz Worry not. SSRich 02-28-2007, 12:27 AM I kind of like to see the door handles to go, dont get me wrong i think they look good and good for areodynamics. The reason i dont like them is because if it snows or freezing rain imagine how hard it would to be to open and you have to open with two hands. 99SilverSS 02-28-2007, 02:12 AM Sorry folks Bob Lutz implies that the door handles are different on the production car. http://www.automochatter.com/forum/showthread.php?t=229 Originally Posted by Bob Lutz Worry not. See post 14 ;) DvBoard 02-28-2007, 09:41 PM Darn, so interesting too. I just hope the ones they replaced 'em with blend into the door really well. 97QuasarBlue3.8 03-08-2007, 01:51 PM I don't know if the past can be a prediction for the future of what the Camaro's door handles will be, but... ..let's assume we're not going to get a square key and a round key upon delivery of our 2009 Camaros. At least that will mean we won't be getting GM's venerable door handle with the lock cylinder placed next to it like every other Camaro made, and there will likely be no butterfly ignition column with a flasher that pulls awkwardly out from the side. Bayer-Z28 03-31-2007, 12:18 AM Was gonna say, there's a vid about it here... That'll prolly be changed once it hits production. They seem problematic, possibly brittle to the pissed off driver... Road rage anyone? blackbirdta 06-03-2007, 10:04 AM those door handles are not practical for production imo. I would feel like I was going to break it off and it reminds me too much of a little miata door handle... EllwynX 06-03-2007, 03:22 PM those door handles are not practical for production imo. I would feel like I was going to break it off and it reminds me too much of a little miata door handle... I'd like to see the early 90's Lumina/Beretta style handles myself. I always like how they appreard integrated into the side rather than a seperate piece. http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/8/web/308000-308999/308688_140_full.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/5/web/2249000-2249999/2249616_21_full.jpg (Lumina Z34, still one of the best looking vehicles from the early 90's IMO.) Just put it at the rear of the door since there'll be no B-Pillar like they had. Would still look more smooth than a typical handle. JasonD 06-03-2007, 03:59 PM those door handles are not practical for production imo. Which is why I don't think they will make production. :) I'd like to see the early 90's Lumina/Beretta style handles myself. I always like how they appreard integrated into the side rather than a seperate piece. I have always liked that style. It felt more natural to use. Just put it at the rear of the door since there'll be no B-Pillar like they had. Would still look more smooth than a typical handle. I think something more like a C6 door handle would be awesome and even better. I can only hope for that one. Chevycobb 06-03-2007, 10:22 PM I think something more like a C6 door handle would be awesome and even better. I can only hope for that one. I would love for something like that to happen. wonder if something like that was brought up at the summit :D Gripenfelter 06-04-2007, 12:21 PM I was just about to make a thread about this today. I have a black Camaro and the door handles wobble. SO when you open the door it scrapes the paint off the handles. Looks like ass. IDK mabe its just me. 4THGEN Z 08-31-2007, 09:22 AM Just put it at the rear of the door since there'll be no B-Pillar like they had. Would still look more smooth than a typical handle. I'm really hoping there is no B pillar....The production Challenger apparently has them now. I don't think you have to worry about it making production. I'm really hoping there is no B pillar....The production Challenger apparently has them now. I have been thinking about this. It seems that due to crash standards, it might be an impossibility to avoid them. I am preparing myself to accept this fact. :| EllwynX 08-31-2007, 09:05 PM I'm really hoping there is no B pillar....The production Challenger apparently has them now. Well, keep in mind what I said what that I'd like to see a door handle similar to that on the Beretta and Lumina Z34 pictured above, but down in the edge of the door since the Camaro won't have a B-pillar 'like they had'. If the Camaro has a B-pillar it's assumed they will hide it behind the glass so it at least appears to be one extended window when closed. There most likely won't be an edge to the rear of the door like the Beretta/Lumina, it'll just be glass with no 'surround' as in previous Camaro's. Or at least that's what I assume myself. Oh, and has it been officially shown or announced that the Challenger will have one? 4THGEN Z 09-04-2007, 08:17 AM Oh, and has it been officially shown or announced that the Challenger will have one? LOL Looks like they will go for the same effect that the Camaro hopefully will as well though. That B-Pillar doesn't look like it will be on the outside, but will be hidden behind glass or something.
