Turn signal lever issue

Suddenly, the signal level started to not disengage when I turn the steering wheel back straight. It works on one end, but not the other side :s
I know the bulb has gone bad too, but I assumed the lever mechanism was purely mechanical.
Has anyone ever experienced this? also, is the lever assembly one piece you swap, or is it something you can actually open and service?

It sounds like the turn signal assembly is going bad and is something that can be swapped for a new one.

Sounds like one of the turn signal cancel springs are broken...you can replace the springs for a couple of dollars...I would do both of them while you are in there for the price of them...

I have to bump this thread because I have the same problem. My turn signal lever won't return to the original position when you signal left. Please keep in mind that I have no experience with the steering column whatsoever. :( What parts do I need to replace? Also, does anyone have any pictures or procedures on how to do this?

Be sure to disengage,or disable the air bag before going in there.Might do a lot of damage to you,and,the cost of a new air bag.Hope this helps.

lol, I have a similar problem with that arm, except for me, if I click my bright lights on, they don't want to click back to normal beam. Anyone else? :confused:

I thought the problem was in the lever, but the dimmer switch for the high beams is actually on the column down near the pedals, and is actuated with a push rod from the signal lever. My problem was because the push rod wasn't pushing the switch all the way down. Use the info here (http://shbox.com/ignsw/ign_switch_repl.html)(thanks Shoebox!) and remove the panels below the steering column to get at the switch and push it by hand to see if the switch is bad or if its the push rod.

To fix mine, I pulled the push rod out of the switch and cut off a short piece of a bolt that was the same diameter as the push rod and put this in the switch prior to putting the push rod back in. I know kinda a cheesy way to fix it, but I didn't feel like taking the whole column out to get at the screws to adjust the switch.

If the switch is bad you are probably going to have to pull the column to replace it, and the rest of the like above tells you how to do that. Although if its not the push rod it could be something besides the switch...

It's failry straightforward if you understand how it works ,and can lay your hands on some of the special tools - like a wheel puller & lock plate puller.

Otherwise, it's a masive bee-yotch, and you could damage the column .

I gotta agree, if I was gonna go through all that trouble, I'd just pull the column as shown, and install a grant wheel or something while I'm at it. Thanks for the info guys. :cool:
