SSRich 02-10-2007, 10:30 PM lets talk about the specific interior part that you hate. I am seeing alot of people dont like the interior and i was wondering if it is just a couple of things or all of it. Personally i love it all except one thing the radio and the aircondition controls built into one. i would like to have a screen with gps just a thougt. Or just a regular radio simple to use.
EllwynX 02-10-2007, 10:41 PM The only thing I absolutely hate on the coupe concept was the color.
The convertible is MUCH more attractive. I'd prefer it be a silver or something personally.
Aside from that, I'd prefer not having the lower gauges mainly because I'd rather have some storage space there.
I really don't want a big ugly screen in my car (aka- Nav unit) unless it can be built as a popup like the CTS is getting. Or, I'll just use VZ Navigator from Verizon Wireless and not have ANY ugly screen in the car.
Oh, and there MUST be at least 2 cupholders that can actually hold a large drink from Burger King/Wendy's/etc (McDonalds' 'Large' isn't that big anymore since they got rid of Super Size).
SSRich 02-10-2007, 10:52 PM i like to have 4 cup holders not trying to out do you just for the people in the back to cant forget about them to.
97z28/m6 02-11-2007, 10:40 AM but the cup holders need to be in front of the shifter.

I thought of the 2 in the rear when I typed up my response. I won't mind if there's 2 for the rear seats, but it's not important to me so I didn't mention it was all.
1- I rarely have anyone in my back seats.
2- There's not exactly much room back there to enjoy your drink anyway. LOL
But if they can put them in and have them integrate nicely (ie- look good enough) then I'm all for it.
Black 97 SS 02-11-2007, 07:26 PM I like the seats and door panels but the gauges and steering wheel suck. I know its a retro car but i personally like a modern interior. What do most guys in their mid twenties to early thirty's do to a 69 camaro interior. New gauges custom upoltery etc. All to make the car more modern. just my opinion

Neither of those links work...
2000GTP 02-13-2007, 12:19 PM The steering wheel is just about the only thing I do not care for. As for the radio, I'm sure, or at least I hope, GM will do something different with. It would be hard for aftermarket stereo enthusiasts to play with these cars if the A/C controls are built into it.
CCoop8830 02-13-2007, 02:14 PM Uhh the steering wheel is the only thing I don't like much. I think they did a great job on the car tho. The color in the coupe doesn't look as good as the conv. though. So with the right color combo its going to be spot on IMHO.
SSRich 02-13-2007, 05:53 PM I like the camaros interior better especially the doorpanels

Where did you get that interior from. that dash looks like a girl i know Kia Spectra interior.

neversummer 02-20-2007, 11:51 AM You got the Yay's and Nays backwards. The yay looks like a boring sedan interior. The 4th gen interior was cool because it had a big, swooping dash, like what they've done in the nay example :)

Personally I think they both look nice. Long as Camaro looses that hideous orange.
I think the Camaro interior can work well with just a few tweaks.
Give a center stack that looks both interesting AND incorporates more 'normal' radio/heat/ac controls. Some cupholders are needed obviously as well as a parking/emergency brake. And, while I don't hate 'em, I'd rather see the lower guages go to make room for some storage. That's an area I tend to use for various items.
So I'd like to see an interior redesign that keeps the modern/retro look of the concepts interior, but done in a more usual way than the actual concept.
Just lose the orange and make it silver metallic!!!

I think I finally figured out what i don't like about the 5th gen interior. It isn't so much the styling or retro look, but more the flatness of the dash. I like a car that makes you feel as though you are in a cockpit. The dash in the concept is just very flat. I think if they had some kind of console that protruded from the dash to give more separation to the passenger and driver seats, then it would change the feel completely (in a good way).
For example, if you look at the dast in the G8 photo, the console comes out and and compeltes the driver's cockpit.

I can understand what you're saying. That's why I suggested using the same look of the concept, but on a more 'modern' layout.
I like my dash to feel like it's enveloping me, with everything at my fingertips.
Sheesh, all this discussion is changing my mind about the concept interior... I think I want a redesign now using the same 'flavor' of the concept. I really like the main spedometer etc guages though. Make them more user friendly, but keep them round in square.
94Camaro_Z_28 02-20-2007, 08:40 PM The guages in the Coupe are to hard to read....some what pf an improvent in the Convertable.
I just don't like that radio, at all. The rest of the interior sits just fine with me. :thumb:
90rocz 02-25-2007, 02:31 PM I haven't sat in it yet, ofcourse, so, just from seeing it at NAIAS;
I don't like the IP gages, the blah no-color seats with gaudy seatbelts, the grooved door-mat carpet, the non-replaceable looking stereo, the blah looking leaned back dash with no utility...I know the production version will likely be more "Up-To-Date" tho, so I'm waiting to judge...
present address 02-26-2007, 02:28 PM in the convert the little orange thread highlight in the seat kills me...... but i could live with it
TAG UR IT 09-12-2007, 12:51 PM Main concern IMO, is that radio and dash. For one, I don't like the translucent wrap around dash thing. Maybe they can make that a solid color, different material, etc. The radio??? No thanks. That just looks too weird. The gauges on the front dash need to be made easier to read. I like everything else...but where are my cupholders???
Dragoneye 09-12-2007, 02:43 PM They're not there...it's a sin to eat or drink in a Camaro didn't you know that? ;)
97QuasarBlue3.8 10-22-2007, 11:44 AM I think Chevrolet did their due-diligence on following a retro theme which is unusually modern for the exterior. Retro interiors tend to be unfriendly in the ergonomics department and a nightmare of cheap plastic and plastic chrome accents. Think more "2008 G8" and less "SSR" :)
ScottZLT1 10-24-2007, 09:44 AM please no in dash nav system for people who are not going to pay the high fee for the nav system the screen just looks dumb and it is an extra added cost that does not need to be in there.
I work at one of those tire and battery places on the weekend and i would say about 90% of people who have the nav system don't have it activated and or only have the free time and there not going to re-up the service.
Alls i'm saying is a nav system makes and price tag higher and is unneeded leave the nav system for the corvette and other chevy models not this one
90 Z28SS 10-25-2007, 02:31 AM That interior is basic layout and shapes . None of the Radio , guages or Hvac area is anything remotely close to what the production car would have . "Most" of that interior is way overboard for show purposes only .
Almost all the most unpopular selections in the poll wont be there naturally :D
Emher 10-25-2007, 06:01 AM I'd say the thing that I really think is needed is a parking brake, but that I think is a no-brainer that it will be included. Other then that the rear view mirror needs work, but I think that will turn out okay.
And finally a big "WTF?" to you who think that they should modernize the interior a lot from the concept. I LOVE the retro design on the concept, makes me feel like I was a little kid again in one of my dads American cars he used to own. I hope they don't change the gauges in fornt of the driver much, it's perfect having just those two big rounhd gauges there. Hopefully they'll keep those and just go with just some small idiot lights in there and keep the gauges by the shifter.

I hope for the gauges to but only thing i dont like they are hard to read but thats a no brainer im sure they will change them. I hope they put a HUD as a extra option i drove my uncles grand prix and i love it but it just showed the mph but that is fine with me.
I voted for gauges and it's overall too retro, cool steering wheel though.
