I had a 7 1/2" 3.73 richmond with a Torsen diff and superior axles/ TA cover. Broke a tooth on the pinion, and, cracked the diff case. It was diffcult to see the crack, but, when they crack, more load is applied to the top of the tooth, and, high stress @ the root. I ordered a Moser 12. Gave the axel to my bud (96SS) and he nickel welded the diff. It broke again and wasted a new 4.10 gear (same type of failure). Since then, he machined his own diff from a chunk of nodular cast. He's a great machinist. He's back in action. The larger the gear ratio, more stress is applied to a single tooth dedendum with those 7 1/2 dia. gears.

what type posi do you have? you can look at it and see if it is messed up. You can also take it apart and inspect everything

the big gear(isn't that the pinion?) came loose and rubbed on the housing of the 12 bolt. so there were some metal shavings in the bottom of the pumpkin. i need to call my buddy to find out if it hit the posi unit or not. he's the one that tore it apart for me:) i have no idea how or why it happened it's not cool by anymeans but it happens lol
