i ordered a Pioneer deh-p7800mp today. my stereo i have now is about 3 years old and the volume knob only works part of the time and the face doesn't always work. it's been bugging me so i decided to get a new one. it should be here in a few days. i also got it for only $273, not a bad deal since msrp on it is $420.

Indelibility 01-28-2007, 10:44 PM Nice, I love Pioneer :thumb:
elguapo 01-28-2007, 10:49 PM What's so great about that one to make it $420?

So does Panasonic...for less. Plus it's no 9800.

i hate the way the Panasonic decks look.
elguapo 01-29-2007, 11:49 AM That's alot of money, but I'd say good job on getting the deal you got.
i think that's cheap. the deck i had before the one i currently have i spent $600 on.

The deck you spent 600 bucks on is now broken, with a busted nob?

Ehh....why buy standard Pioneer when the Premier can be had for the same money, which has the better warranty.
Premier 980BT here. :) Got it new for about $385 shipped when it was newly released.

after three years of use and (probably) abuse. i know my head units take a beating, thats why i dont like spending alot on them
Bad Black 3.8 01-29-2007, 12:20 PM Man, I hope you like it... I bought the Premier version of that one off of Ebay, and I hate the Rotary Commander joystick crap navigation they used on it. I hate it so much I'm thinking about flipping it on Ebay and getting something different, and I've only had this one for a couple months!
Joe Brodman 01-29-2007, 12:44 PM I love the rotary command knob, and think it works very well.
I looked into getting an Alpine deck, but they were all WWAAYYY too much money for a decent deck. And their Bluetooth option sucks, badly. IMO if they tweaked their lineup a bit, by offering certain features on more decks, their lineup would be 100x better. The deck that had all the features I wanted (and plenty I didn't want/need) was crazy expensive.
I really wanted a top-end Eclipse, but couldn't justify the cost, and no Bluetooth option.
The Clarions didn't impress me, I've not really enjoyed the Kenwood decks I've owned/played with. I won't even consider a Sony deck (I like some of their stuff, but find their car audio to be garbage). I saw a few ok Panasonics, but nothing that made me the least bit interested in owning one.

my friend has a pioneer deck with it and i've messed around with it some. it doesn't bother me at all.
85_305 01-29-2007, 01:45 PM Mike, you had me worried you got rid of your Hifonics stuff

i love my amp. the only thing that bothers me with it is it overheats too easily during the summer.
valter 01-29-2007, 02:35 PM Congrats, nice looking unit! I like the sound of newer Pioneer HU's. It will sound even better with a good aftermarket amp/components.

I have two Hifonics (Zues and Thor) and they are ****in' sick!! But even in the back of my old Z, they never overheated
