a friend of mine just bought a 2001 firebird with the 3.8. while removing the intake to change a lifter and push rod, we heard a pop. there is a plastic pipe that goes from the front of the intake to what appears to be the accessory bracket behind the belt tensioner. well, it broke into a few pieces. what is this pipe for? is it a breather tube of some sort or does coolant flow through it? it does not appear to be wet anywhere so i'm thinking breather. need to replace and would like to know what it is called. thanks. mike

well, obviously very little traffic here. anyway, i went to the dealer and they knew what it was exactly when i showed it to him. it is a water passage. it has o rings on each end and is shaped like a L. if you break it removing the intake, dont feel bad, the dealer does all the time and mine had it in stock.
