stock 1/4 mile time

I Know this has probably been asked a thousand times and I apologize ahead of time. I was just wondering the stock 1/4 mile and 0-60 time for a stock 95 firebird with lt1 auto. A buddy told me that the 1/4 mile was 14.9 and 0-60 in 6 sec. this seems a bit slow to me, so what are the facts?

My buddy's '96 Trans-Am only managed a 14.6 (A4, 2.73's) but I think he had aftermarket 18's on the car already . I've got a couple other friends who have run low 14's / high 13's though .

It seems that they vary a little. Most strong stockers go high 13's around 99-100, while some only get mid 14's around 96 mph. I've seen a few guys that add bolt-on parts on don't go any faster.

You also have to factor in that some of these cars are well over 10 years old and are not in the same pristine mechanical shape as they were when they rolled off the lot. My car for example, the previous owner took it to the track once, he ran a 14.7 as his best and got progressively worse after that. When I took delivery of the car, all of the pucks on the spark plugs fell off leaving gaps of around .080, there were exhaust leaks, original plug wires with almost a 100K on them, and some other neglected items as well. The car could barely chirp the tires when you mashed the pedal from a standstill. After a good tuneup and some other TLC, it runs alot better now.

There are so many other variables to consider that would affect a car's performance. Weather and track conditions are just a couple. Track elevation has a considerable affect also. The cars on the east coast seem to be a bit quicker just because they're being run on sea level tracks. Cars in colorado would run almost a full second slower because of their altitude. My cars stock time is in my sig.

Mine ran 14.3 @ 101.3 mph on the g-tech. we were two in the car with bald tire on a not so good street. I think the car is bone stock, the engine and transmission were rebuilt by the previous owner 30 miles ago. it is a formula a4 1994.

Weather conditions alone can create a variance of (reasonably) up to 1/2 second in the quarter mile. 60' times vary significantly by track conditions, weather, and driver ability and technique. The majority of numbers for stock LT1s at a decent track with an average driver seem to be 14.0-14.4. A few will dip into the 13's usually due to either an outstanding driver, outstanding track conditions and weather, or both. Otherwise low 14's seem to be the norm at between 97-99 mph, again depending on the weather and the driver.

When dealing with older vehicles of varying condition, use, and abuse your results may vary greatly.
