I was going to order the coated Lts but I saw some on ebay that were all rusted on the bottom where the coating had been burned off. If I can save some money just getting the painted ones rather than the coating there is a stove place close to me that will coat them for $20 and it will withstand something like 1600* and is guarenteed (SP) Anyone else had the problem with the coated headers? I'm probably going to get the painted ones and give the stove coating a try

The coating on my Pacesetters started to rust after less then a years time. Mind you I don't drive my car in the rain or snow and it sees about 500 miles annually if it is lucky.

That sucks, I think I'm going to give that stove companies coating a try then, at least they wil give me a guarentee that it will stand up and I'll save a little money too.

That sucks, I'm glad I saw that before I dropped the extra cash for the coated ones

If you don't have or know of a coating shop it town....what would you have to do to the uncoated headers to get them ready for installation?

nothing, just put them in. The coating they put on them is to prevent rust while there are sitting on the shelf and being shipped. If you throw them on the will just burn the black coating off and start to get rusty

Exactly, if you don't get them coated, I would at least paint them with a good quality header paint before installing them.

If i got the long tube pacesetter headers with the ORY i know i would need the O2 sims.....but i also heard that they could be coded out instead of getting the sims. My gf's dad owns an automotive shop and i am sure he has all those diagnostic tools.

Do you think he could just code them out?

Spend the money on better headers.

If he has the editting software applicable to your vehicle platform, then yes. If he owns a basis repair shop, he may, more then likely just have some type of scanner.

Does the rust affect the performance or just the looks?

yea it will come with a guarentee, but how often do u really wanna take off the headers have them recoated and then have to put them back on? PITA IMO

Well is more than you get from the other guys and they are local so I wouldn't have to pay shipping to get them there and back. Plus the motor will probably come out a few times so it would be a good time to get them touched up if I had to.
