cutout question

If you had a 3.5" QTP electric cutout, a extra 3" electric cutout plate, and a 3" cutout on your car.. could it all work by putting the 3" plate onto the 3.5" valve and bolting it to the 3" cutout?

edit* heres a better question... can i elongate the holes on the 3.5" electric cutout valve to fit on my 3" cutout

If this doesnt belong here feel free to correct me but i wasnt getting any response and i need to know asap. I have a 3" cutout and a 3.5" QTP valve. How can i put said objects together?

I was thinking two gaskets between the electric valve and cutout and then elongate the holes so they will line up with the studs on the cutout.

you should try the exhaust system section

You could get a 3.5" to 3" header reducer and have a muffler shop or welder invert it and weld it to your 3" pipe then the bolt holes will be right there on the 3.5 end and it'll be ready to go...

I don't think thats gonna work because the valve is gonna be 3.5" and when it turns to open it'll be to large to go into the 3" cutout.

the flap in the valve is only 3".. dont ask me why but thats how big it is.. when 3" exhaust gaskets were laid down on it the valve would just BARELY scrape them.. thats why i was thinking clearance the gaskets a tad and put two in so that the largest part of the valve wont scrape the 3" cutout..

slowformula could you define what you mean by invert?

I meant the standard use of a header reducer is to reduce the pipe down to size, as in from a 3.5" collector and having 3" exhaust. I ment for you to flip it around so you step up a size, and attach the 3" side to the exhaust then the 3.5" side to the E-cutout...

But this was before I realized that your valve on the QTP was soo small it almost fits in the 3" pipe. If that truely is the case then I would just widen the gasket a little till it doesn't rub at all then grind down the flange a little using the gasket as a template and be done with it...
