What is this?

:confused: I was checking out my exhaust for the first time today, because I'm considering replacing the system with chambered pipes.

It's one of the weirdest setups I've seen. Instead of one pipe in and one out the back on the side of the muffler with two holes, the there are two pipes going into one tip and out the back. The muffler is turned the wrong way (with the side with one outlet on the passengers side). Where the pipe comes from the engine, it makes a "Y" and one side goes straight out the back with the other going into the muffler. This way, it is only half muffled.

Has anyone heard of this?

It sounds pretty good, but too much like a truck. What's a good system that will make it sound like just a badass car instead of a big old truck? (As a matter of fact it sounds exactly like my Mom's dual exhaust Dodge).

Sounds like the Borla adjustable catback.

Where the intermediate pipe splits off, and one branch goes straight out the back to the passenger side exhaust tip, there is a removable plate, that can be changed to adjust how much exhaust goes thru the muffler and how much bypasses the muffler..... sort of a "cutout". There's a solid plate to force all the exhaust thru the muffler, and plates with various size holes. Its a very expensive stainless steel catback ($600+) that performs very well.... at least if its the Borla "Adjustable".
