What is the one thing you hate the most about the 5th gen exterior?

I can't handle the air intake location. I am assuming that the base cars will not have that but it would have been better if they put it in the hood. Either that or hide it underneath the grill where you could actually increase airflow.

It was a toss up between the:

-sleek looking, but tiny mirrors (which look as if they won't help you see anything)

-the headlights (I understand the "quasi-retro" thing but I would like quads instead of just two, to matchup with the 4 taillights...and more noticeable blinkers in front)

-or the average looking grill with the gold bowtie.

But I chose the grill. I'd like to see a slightly more intricate pattern/design. One that would allow for badges (RS, SS, Z/28). Or at least a body colored bowtie so it doesn't remind me of the chevy trucks. Having the good ole red/white/blue Camaro logo on the front integrated somehow wouldn't be a bad thing either...

Same here. Although if you held a gun to my head and said, "pick one!" I'd have to go with the mirrors.

I don't care for the mirrors, but from what I hear, those won't be on the production version anyhow.

I choose the fact that everybody will have one. It's going to be the new Mustang. They'll be allllll over and tons of V6s will be floating around.

But it's a double-edged sword. They need to sell to keep going. So whatever.

I chose beltline. Loooks it chunky...bigger windows would help. I like the convertible better then the coupe.

Grille still for me, mirrors a close second, gas filler location 3rd..

Grille should have should have a more "futuristic" take on the heritage look...big square blocks, to me, says, cheap! and retro!, add the gold bowtie and it says '70's truck...

Mirrors just don't appear functional...too small, just enlarge.

Gas cap...scratches as spills will quickly make this very unpopular, and it looks too "Dodge-y".

I only chose Mirrors because there isn't anything I don't like really.

And the mirrors obvioiusly have to be enlarged anyway.

I can't bring myself to hate the mirrors... because I know that there's no way that the concept's tiny mirrors would make it to production as-is.

I like everything about it, and there is no category for that in this poll, so I picked mirrors.

headlights.

I picked the grille, though I don't like both the grille AND headlamps. They really need an RS package. I like the mirror, I don't mind them being small because they can always make it convex-ish:p

I wonder how it will look like once they raise the greenhouse, cuz the frt looks kind of thick sometimes.

The god-awful fakey exhaust outlet thingies.

Other than that, leave it be.

No pop-open headlight covers. (yes, I know they are illegal now)

That grill is too wide. I saw the chop with the dual headlights from the volt and the car looked 50 times better in the front, plus it gave it a 3rd gen flavor to add into the mix.

I voted mirrors, but I also hate the exhaust. It was a close call, but I don't have to look at the exhaust all that often and it will probably be loud as hell too. That's cool.

I hope they raise the roof a little too- I would like to see a little more of the '69 proportion to it, rather than the "chopped-and-channeled" look they got going.

the biggest thing that bugs me is the scoop location above the grill in the front fascia.. either no scoop, or put it on the hood please..

I'm not sure why people are so worried about this. The reverse lights can be placed on either side of the license plate without ruining the look in the least.

I have no idea if they plan on doing it that way, but it certainly seems the best way to go imo.

i dont think there is anything i dont like about the car. i think chevy hit a home run with this car. just cant wait to see the production model.

Same here, you should add love/hate everything about it to the poll. If you do Ill vote hate everything, but I am happy they brought the name back, hopefully it does well and I can look forward to the 6th gen :) . Actually, I love the drivetrain/running gear, I just dont like the appearance.

In person though, it doesn't have that problem. Every angle is gorgeous.

I agree... the car is almost a completely different car in person. When I first saw it on the internet I thought it was OK.... then i saw it in person and the proportions just seemed perfect. There really is no comparison between pictures and the real thing.

+1. I haven't seen the convertible in person, but the coupe sure looks much better in person than through a computer monitor.

Awesome angle, I agree..... I didn't get to see the coupe last year in Chicago, so I'm kinda pissed at Philly since I could only see the 'vert this year!

roof height is the problem for me if they raise it an inch and 3/4 i think i will be fine.... i cant sit in a monte.... but this is gonna be close in this car... glad it will be a little taller

I dont want to sound like Im bitching, but the only thing that I would change if I were to change anything would be that kind of gated grill (am I saying that right?). Not that Im saying I dislike it or anything, I just always loved the styling of the rs/ss grill, the way it was blacked out and had hidden headlights (which Ive come to accept will probably not make it to production.). Dont get me wrong, the shape of the grill is perfect in my eyes. I am absolutely in love with this car though, the design team nailed it perfectly.

I can deal tho, modifying a grille is an easy task.
I always thought that it looks a tad tall from the wheel-well lip to the top of the fender, looks worse in this pic.

Okay I saw the Camaro in person for the first time today--you get a far different perspective from seeing it in person then just in pictures.

It's very chunky and bulky. Nonetheless, it looks very tough and mean. Makes the Mustang seem like a girly car.

However, my dislikes still stand.

1. Gas cap location is just retarted.

2. Windows are laughabley small. Side and windshirld are so tiny! This setup is beyond resonable in terms of visibility. Goona feel very confined inside.

Still, over all I did like it. But the convertible is more to my liking I think.

Now if they can price a 5.3L 330ho/6 speed auto so I can afford it---I would take a serious look. Still wish the Firebird would comeback! :(

My vote went for the gas filler. It interrupts the "presence" of something powerful under those mean rear quarters. I know it'll never happen, but I always liked the "hide it behind the license plate" look from way back when. As for the grille, I see a nice balance between retro and progressive design. But I haven't seen her in person, so I could be way off.

Well, I agree the Bowtie shouldn't be gold. It should be body color.

Otherwise I like the grille.

I think (or should I say, hope) that the big shiny bowtie is there because it is a concept car, and having a big Chevy logo on it is more important that pleasing the enthusiasts.

To answer the main thread question...

The part that I hate the most, is that the gas cap location will most likely change. Other than that, I must admit that I love everything about the new Maro.

The grille looks to blocky and raw on a car were some other areas have been detailed in a finer way. Also the squares on the upper grille look different than the single bar on the lower opening, maybe some kind of finer mesh should be used on both openings.

I dont like the half rounded or whatever you want to call them tailights. I'd rather see the perfectly rounded tailights as was the 70-73 Camaro.

Fully round would look too much like the 'Vette. They're perfect the way they are, looks much more menacing this way.

I agree. I thought the tail lights from the SS Concept a few years back would have been perfect for the 5th Gen.

I think we're in the minority though, and besides, the current tail-lights eventually grew on me.

I'm pretty much indifferent to it (I want a Sunroof anyway) but a lot of people seem to love it.

There's a few things I don't like but the terrible grill tops the list.

I know a hatchback is not as solid as a coupe, but one thing I like about the 4th gen was the hatch. I can get a lot of stuff in mine - plywood, bikes, etc. with no problem.

The front end. You just know they're going to have to add 3 or 4 inches to fit the radiator and other crap in there.

A close second is the wheel wells. The body line should come off the top tangent of the wheel well like on the 69 car, a fabulous feature never again duplicated.

If the grille was opened up it would lose it's 'bird of prey' appearance. As well as give it the same issue current the Mustang has. A sea of black with 2 round headlights. Bland...

I hate to say this, but I dislike the entire car. We live in the 21 st century, we should be driving more future looking cars, not a brick on wheels. The style will date itself fast when the retro craze ends.

What I hate the most about the exterior is that I can't see it right now when I look in my garage.

I really don't like the rear fender flares... something doesn't like quite right.. Maybe its the color...

The poll was designed to flag styling concerns, not all the things that we like about the car. Some of you may think that this poll is an attempt to bash the car. Nothing could be further from the truth. We all want the car to be a home run for Chevrolet.

BTW - notice the biggest complaint is the grill design? Notice the 2nd largest complaint was the mirrors? Notice the improved grill and mirrors on the latest white car? :thumb:

As far as @ss kissers, I have to agree that there are a lot of them here on this site. If GM said they were going to make the new Camaro look like the back end of a donkey, many guys would say they love it.

This car has it all in my opinion and i'd love to get my hands on one of them.
Its definitely one of the best cars. manly, sweet, fast. what more could you ask for. Lambos and Ferraris are super expensive and the corvette has a huge waiting list.

A long hood, a short trunk and a steeply raked windshield will forever be a sporty, timeless design. Look at any modern or old 2-door sportscar and you will find this to be the case.

The 2010 Camaro IS very modern, including a high hood line, tall doors, a short greenhouse, with the wheelbase stretched. The "retro" piece is really its angular features, which is no longer retro. Look at Cadillac--sharp angles are what brought the brand back to life with the CTS. "Bubble cars" of the 1990's are out--remember the Dodge intrepid? Neon? Chevy Cavalier? Toyota Previa? Soft lines are now considered bland.

Granted, the exterior resembles that of the 1st gen. But if you look throughout the car, the features also reflect some 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gen features, and many modern features of the GM lineup as well.

I'm really not here to argue or change your mind--but perhaps you haven't looked at it from this perspective before.

The new Camaro should fit within the profile of the 1969 Camaro, the best one they ever made. The one they show now is fatter than the Mustang, which is a little fat as it is, and as fat as a Charger, and fatter than the new Chalenger when it comes out. It needs to be a little sleeker, that's all. They also need two or more grill choices, just like in the better old days. Have one with dual hooded quads (like beemers), the single version, and a special Z28 version. But be sleek about it.

The grill...although I think it may be starting to look better. Either it's growing on me, or they're changing it a bit to make it look better. Other than that, I think it is one cool looking car, especially the rear. Very stylish.

I'd say the hoodline is very tall.
