Dwarf Killer 01-10-2007, 10:13 PM This would absolutely knock the market on it's ass. Use the Camaro drivetrain and make it a luxury sportster. It's actually a Holden concept at Detroit.

GoCamaroGo 01-10-2007, 10:35 PM I like it, the pictures on holden's site are better. Unfortunately, most people won't like it, and it wouldn't sell if produced. The color they picked for this concept is perfect.
ChrisL 01-10-2007, 10:42 PM Definitely a cool car in person. I doubt we'd ever see something like this mass produced.

shock6906 01-10-2007, 10:45 PM America moved on from that style 50 years ago. Sure people still buy and restore the classics, but the people that build those cars usually have a little more inspiration than just the way the car looks. I just don't think that such styling would receive a warm welcome in this era. I do like it though...
Doug Harden 01-10-2007, 11:21 PM There are abosolutely NO plans to build this car......even though I'd bet good money that it would eclipse the 300C's sales numbers.
Why NOT build cool cars?!?! Does everything HAVE to look the same?

No, definitely not. I agree with the masses though on this one. It's looks are amazing, but I certainly wouldn't buy one, and I think most of my generation would agree. However, this car would definitely not be targeted at my generation, but styles like this tend to polarize the buying public- not something you want to do with a car that would sell in the volumes that the 300 does, I'm assuming.
Caps94ZODG 01-10-2007, 11:35 PM sweet car reminds me of the buick concept that was out a few years ago..
JG/70Z 01-11-2007, 12:00 AM I'm no fan of lead sleds, but I've liked the Efijy concept since I first laid eyes on it.
In no way would it outsell the 300 tho. It's way too specialized to appeal to the mass market like the 300 does.
It would probably have the same sale figures as the SSR...if that.
I agree it would light a fire under Buick's ass tho. I would love to see that.
Good Ph.D 01-11-2007, 12:16 AM Thats what I was thinking, looks like, and would sell like, the SSR.
I would however like to see Buick do something a bit more swoopy and old school now that Cadillac is so edgy and modern.
christianjax 01-11-2007, 06:42 AM I love this car, been following it for about a year. But unfortunately the ONLY way it would see the light of day as a limited production car would be if Chrysler had came up with it. I think they are more bold and willing to take more chances. Think Viper, and Prowler. And had the Prowler had decent performance to go with it's looks it would have sold much better. If you are going to make a car look like a hot rod, it had better be packing more than a little V6. Or at least a turbo V6 ala Grand National.

kthxbye.
:p ;)
Diognes56 01-11-2007, 09:39 AM OMG!!! Efijy is at Detroit!!! Now I really really want to go  .

You do remember that it was our Bob Lutz, back in his Chrysler days, who spearheaded both the Viper and Prowler....right?
It looks like a custom hot rod. Way too retro. Anyone else getting tired of retro?
poSSum 01-11-2007, 10:46 AM I'd like to see that one and the Buick Blackhawk side by side.

Bud M 01-11-2007, 11:24 AM Now that is ugly
efijy is cool, though, and the engine compartment is fantastic

jrp4uc 01-11-2007, 12:34 PM The Efijy concept would make a nice Buick halo car and generate interest for the brand. Buick is starving for a unique product.
guionM 01-11-2007, 01:41 PM I agree with christianjax in that if it was done by the pre-Damiler Chrysler Coreperation, it would be on the streets.
Doug, it's intresting you point out that the guy who spearheaded it, Bob Lutz, now is at GM. I have no doubt that he likely had something to do with bringing Holden's Efijy out here. It was at Holden's headquarters back in November. I happen to really like the car myself.
Unfortunately, Lutz has less direct control over product at GM than he did at Chrysler.
At Chrysler, if Eaton (CEO), Lutz (President), Castaing (Operations), and Gale (Product Development) all agreeded on something (and it was easy to pay for), it got made. At General Motors, Wagoner, Lutz, and Welburn have to plot together (along with whoever is convienent at the time) to convince both GM's product planning board and GM's board of directors.
2000GTP 01-11-2007, 02:40 PM I'm sure that would sell as well as the SSR did... Not denying that it is one cool looking concept, I just don't see a big demand for it.
Dwarf Killer 01-11-2007, 08:28 PM Well I have to agree about the demand bit. It is definitely a small market car. But they could work with it and make it more appealing. I've just been thinking lately that the market could use a good luxury sports car. Not like a Jag, but a Buick styled like that new Maserati. Something that attracts attention. Camaro may be too cheap as a car for my tastes, at least that's what I'm worried about. I don't want another car with a tupperware interior.
SCNGENNFTHGEN 01-11-2007, 10:37 PM Very sweet custom 50's rod, and the color, WOW. Awesome looking car IMO.
JB'z 94 01-12-2007, 03:41 AM Always liked the Efijy, doubtful they could make it look this nice and put it on the road though.
2lane69 01-12-2007, 10:53 AM I think this would appeal to a broader market than the SSR did. Why? Because the SSR was strange. I mean, was there ever really a demand for a retractable hard top pick-up from the 50's? Those weren't even around back then, so they really didn't pull any nostalgic or stylistic heart-strings...rather, just the oddity and unique-ness strings for a select few.
I think an actual CAR with this styling would see a much more receptive audience. This is a car you would want to valet with your sweet-heart at the fanciest hotel and restaurants in town. The SSR really was only neat at a gas station.
Good Ph.D 01-12-2007, 11:45 PM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retractable_hardtop
Actually retractable hardtops first came about in the 50s. I remember a program about the Ford the article mentioned it took a good five minutes to retract.
