STILL wheelhopping30th6 01-09-2007, 08:58 AM ive got lca with relocation brackets, umi tunnelbrace adjustable torque arm, summit 3 way drag shocks and my car is still wheelhopping any suggestions? Capn Pete 01-09-2007, 12:34 PM I'm assuming this is only happening if/when you launch on the bottle?? What tires are you running in the back? 30th6 01-09-2007, 12:59 PM IVE got nitto555 street radials and its even wheelhopping off the bottle.ive thought about putting poly sway bar busings and endlinks do you think it will help? 2000GTP 01-09-2007, 01:53 PM Have you confirmed that the settings on the LCA brackets and torque arm are correct? CamaroSS30thAnn 01-09-2007, 04:30 PM have ur pinion angle adjusted if u havent at the track manuals should run a -3 to -4 degree pinion angle plus i think on the relocation brackets the second hole is best for stock height cars correct me if im wrong Greed4Speed 01-09-2007, 07:17 PM At what point did the wheel hop begin? OBE1 95Z28 01-09-2007, 08:30 PM Another vote for checking the pinion angle. It's common for people to incorrectly set the pinion angle. 30th6 01-10-2007, 09:30 AM THE wheelhopping began after i put in the moser 9in.the pinion angle is set at -3.i got the lca in the lowest hole do i need it in the second hole? OBE1 95Z28 01-10-2007, 03:16 PM The lowest hole is the best position to eliminate wheel hop and gain straight line traction. I read that you set the pinion angle to -3 degrees, but as I stated above, a lot of people get confused about setting pinion angle and do it wrong. Does your driveshaft and "pinion gear" make a "V" shape pointing to the ground (this angle makes sure that it's negative pinion angle)? Bayer-Z28 01-10-2007, 03:18 PM ^^ When you are ON it the rear has a tendancy to twist upwards. (pinion walking UP the ring gear) So if you sett the angle to negitive it should be pointing slightly down at a 'V', but the angle will not really be noticeable. So when the rear is under TQ or a heavy load the driveshaft angle straightens out. -Correct me if I'm wrong. I thought the angle was supposed to be -2*? The lowest hole is good for straight line traction. However the LCA's should be parallel with the ground. Maybe a little more sloped down twords the rear. 30th6 01-10-2007, 06:04 PM I know i set the pinion angle right. ive tried -1,-2,& -3.i couldnt tell any difference in any of the change.has any one else had this problem?if so how did u fix it. the relocation brackets helped some but its still pretty bad. metallicsniper 01-13-2007, 08:50 PM I have mine in the bottom hole. also why didn't you change your panhard bar? that will make a big difference 30th6 01-14-2007, 11:18 AM i didnt think the panhard bar would help with wheelhopping. i though it would just help cornering. ss9c1man 01-14-2007, 11:55 AM If you are not running rod end lower control arms you might try some, or put poly bushings in the stock arms. Try lowering your tire pressure. With the improved antisquat of the shorter torque arm you may be better off with the lower arms in the second hole. Just for reference too low anitsquat causes wheel spin while too high will cause wheel hop. 30th6 01-14-2007, 12:24 PM i got tubular lca's with poly bushings.ill try moving them to the second hole. metallicsniper 01-15-2007, 01:36 AM get a panhard bar. it isn't just for cornering. the panhard bar helps to keep the rear aligned properly. since we don't have upper control arms, the torque arm and panhard bar take its place. your LCAs are trying to put the power to the ground and your torque arm is doing its job, but your LCAs are just fighting themselves because they don''t have any help from the top of the rear. you can get a panhard bar for like 80-100. its your best bet to solve your problem GreenDemon 01-15-2007, 09:00 AM From what I've read the more negative the pinion angle is, the more "bite" the car will have, up to the point of wheelhop. So setting it more positive should reduce the tendency to hop. | ||
