Brangeta 01-08-2007, 03:02 PM Anybody else think it's funny that Pontiac's racing team can make a cool looking G6 spoiler, but GM's attempt looks like crap? That chunky spoiler looks like %@&$. I'm not very fond of the grill on either of them for that matter honestly.
In the end, I guess it doesn't matter though. I'm not interested in buying a G6 in the first place. :irk: But this is just going to add fuel to the fire that this is a poor man's G35.

guionM 01-08-2007, 03:11 PM I really dislike that grille.
It reminds me of someone who had their nose ripped off.
dream '94 Z28 01-08-2007, 03:29 PM I have to agree, I really didn't like Pontiac's 'bucktooth' grill on the GP GTP, I like it less here.
Too bad really, because that and the whale tail spoiler really detract from what could've been a sophisticatedly aggressive GT type car.
JG/70Z 01-08-2007, 05:09 PM That's a whale tail....straight up....right from the 70's. I hope to hell that it doesn't make it to production. I don't mind the frontend.
Brangeta 01-08-2007, 05:11 PM  the sad thing is, it is already planned for production like that!
transAMdriv3r 01-08-2007, 05:18 PM ew :o
2000GTP 01-08-2007, 05:27 PM The spoiler definitely needs to go. The front end is just too overdone with all of the mesh grilles.
Looks like a photochop
Brangeta 01-08-2007, 05:36 PM It may look like it, but they aren't. These pics were just released today.
Z284ever 01-08-2007, 06:03 PM You just have to wonder who it was exactly that signed off on this package....and why. I mean it is simply awful, and that's about the nicest thing that I can say about it.
The spoiler, the front fascia, the wheels, bleh. Did someone frome GM see the whole package together, and feel that it actually looked good? If so, save one engineer's job and fire him/her instead. If you are completely clueless on how a car should look, should you really even be in this business?
Jason E 01-08-2007, 06:20 PM I feel like for every step forward the G6 gets (3.6 HF, subtle revisions to class-up the inside), it takes 2 phenomenal steps back (that GXP is AWFUL, and no M6 for the 3.6)...
Now, on my 5th Pontiac, I'm questioning what the HELL I'm going to buy next. Wifey won't let me do RWD for her, so therefore the G6 was my next hope (an '07 GXP GP will be too old by the time we're done with the '04)...I pray future offerings are better, and more well thought out.
Something tells me the Japanese aren't this stupid, hence why we're getting our asses kicked by Nissan, Mazda, etc...
Joe K. 96 Zeee!! 01-08-2007, 07:08 PM Holy shades of Aztec, Batman!!
Some nice ideas taken to the exteeeeme! Looks like a descendant of GrandAm GTP styling, but it's just not working here.
Steve0 01-08-2007, 07:12 PM It looks like a vampire bat to me. Everything up to the hood and front bumper looks good to me. Its like a cheap, ugly attempt at japanese coupe styling.
There is no performance advantage on this car versus a GTP coupe is there? If so, I really cant see anyone purchasing this car unless theyre buying a car for their 16 year old son.
97z28/m6 01-08-2007, 07:13 PM Now, on my 5th Pontiac, I'm questioning what the HELL I'm going to buy next. aura/malibu.;)

nowandthen 01-08-2007, 08:19 PM I think the front end looks good! The rear spoiler is just plain wrong though!

What the hell is that?
formula79 01-08-2007, 08:36 PM The G6 GXP is really depressing. I mean it looks like complete, unmitigated ass It is almost like some one said "Lets make the ugliest car possible and hope people like it because it is different". If you are gonna bother with a body kit, you should at least to do it right. See the the old Grand Am GT on how to do a youth oriented body kit.
The worst part is I saw the SEMA showcar and didn't bitch because I knew there was no way GM would make something that ugly....yet the proved me wrong.
Whoever signed off on this package needs to be fired...and their design school needs to take their deiploma back. I wonder if Bob Lutz was drunk or something when this came through the pipes?
Z28Wilson 01-08-2007, 08:44 PM That is awful. What the hell is going on at Pontiac these days? I thought they were moving toward "classy" aggressive styling? This makes the fork lines on the bottom half of the old Grand Ams look subdued.
For crying out loud, clean it up. The rear spoiler is the goofiest, tackiest thing I've seen on a production vehicle. The front fascia IS the angry kitchen appliance Bob Lutz so infamously loathed when he started at GM. The wheels look like ass.
Truly sad times for the Poncho division.
93RedDevilZ28 01-08-2007, 08:44 PM Funny how Banner Racing isn't running that exact front end.
Z284ever 01-08-2007, 09:07 PM Not to appear like I'm piling on, but what a totally wasted opportunity. And dear Lord those wheels. Are they rejects from a Buick minivan?
In comparison, the Accord coupe posted in this thread, is exponentially better.
CLEAN 01-08-2007, 09:33 PM Not good
gtman316 01-08-2007, 09:50 PM That spoiler looks like it belongs on an 80's Porche
formula79 01-08-2007, 10:01 PM The worst part is I remember the enthusiasm I had before the G6 was released. The GXP was supposed to be the turbocharged Imprezza killer:(
JG/70Z 01-08-2007, 10:31 PM What the hell is that?
2008 Accord. I gotta give it to Honda...it looks great for what it is. Definatley a step ahead of the competition...and it pains me to say that.

30thZ286speed 01-08-2007, 11:09 PM The Honda Accord coupe looks good until I saw the rear and then it was :barf:
As far as the G6 coupe goes, give me the GTP with the GXP drivetrain.
Z28Wilson 01-08-2007, 11:11 PM And dear Lord those wheels. Are they rejects from a Buick minivan?
That may be the single biggest embarrassment. I might be able to possibly understand what they were going for with the body pieces...but to screw up something that should be so relatively simple....why didn't they just go with the wheels on the SEMA concept? They at least make the rest of the car somewhat tolerable for freak's sake....
Z284ever 01-08-2007, 11:46 PM I propose that GM run by all their new "performance" car ideas by us before unleashing them on an unsuspecting public.
Man Law?
Man Law.

...Man Law.....
slayerxxx213 01-08-2007, 11:51 PM It really needs to lose the chrome strips around the front grills, the inside of the headlights should be black and those wheels are absolutely hideous :yuck: ...They should be black or gunmetal and a completely different design...The spoiler doesn't bother me nearly as much as the other things but it would look much better if it were the same as the smaller of the two on the race car...
Oh, and I just feel the need to re-emphasize how FUGLY those damn wheels are :barf: x infinity.
flowmotion 01-09-2007, 01:28 AM They just need to bring back the ribbed cladding for the full effect.

LOL! yes... man law
Ken S 01-09-2007, 03:23 AM I never liked those hood scoops.
Those pictures make it look way too high off the ground.. The direct comparison pics to the racecar even make it look higher.. The rear tires look so painfully skinny too..
The rear wing's brakelight looks like a cheap afterthough.
Sorry, I find nothing appealing about this car.
Steve0 01-09-2007, 09:45 AM Anyone else notice the antenna at the front of the roofline as opposed to the rear where you usually see it on cars? I guess its relative where its located, but at the front of the roofline it reminds me of a sharks fin and looks a bit... rebellious.
Chrome383Z 01-09-2007, 10:25 AM I don't mind the front end, but the wing... No way...
EllwynX 01-10-2007, 09:07 AM Looks like a photochop
It's not. It has been out for around a year (though it was out as a 'concept' last year, but this is identical to the 'concept') so I'm surprised everyone sounds as if it's something totally new.
Here's the pics I took of it at the NY Auto Show last April.

Personally, aside from the need to tone down the spoiler, I think it looks great. The taillights have a decidedly evil look when lit up.
I'd like to see that color on the concept available on other cars. I know it's not noticible in the pics really, but it was a fantastic graphite metallic gray.
slayerxxx213 01-10-2007, 12:27 PM The wheels on that car look alot better than the pics earlier in this thread...
Ken S 01-10-2007, 12:32 PM unless I'm imagining things, those pics right there look like its a bit lower compared to the pics in the top of this thread..
It actually looks okay in those pics.. Maybe cause of the lighting and those ugly hood scoops are kinda hidden in the reflection... and hte wheels.. and it looks a bit lower?
uluz28 01-10-2007, 01:36 PM I actually like it a lot :o
I think it will have some real presence on the street....I'd like to see one in person.
edit...the wheels on the original post are TERRIBLE. Put the 5-spoke concept wheels on it, and it looks a ton better.
