Steering slop

I removed the steering shaft to install a rag joint eliminator and seemed to found slight play in the section shown in the picture. Anyone else seem to have this problem? Seems like everyone else has a problem with the rack, rag joint, or ball joints.

That should be tight. It has a nylon/plastic shear pin that keeps the 2 pieces at the proper length.

The shear pin is supposed to give in the event of a head on collision. The steering column will collapse instead of becoming a spear at your chest.
