Didnt post anything for a couple months. But im back!!! My camaro SS just got slammed and whole left front end taken out by some jacka$$ going thru a stop sign. but no frame damage, nothing like that. so gotta stay positive and its gonna look great its back!!! So before i talked about getting a cutout and I've have decided to go with the electronic ones... but i cant remember where i saw the 200 dollar ones...is from QTP? or something like that? and what size should i get - I believe i got a 3" one for my z28 before...so is that good for this 2000 SS a 3" one?? and it goes right after the bend behind the CAT on the I-pipe right??

2nd part - How the H*LL do i shut off my automatic headlamps from turning on at 5pm when its still day light out!!!! lol

3rd part - got a nice new job - making lots more money - i saw a post on here before about some small cheap things you can do to make your car alot faster... I cant find that post anywhere - anyone know some quick small things to improve my power of my SS???

Sorry for this wicked long post and all the questions... And thanks in advance for any tips and/or advice!

~Mike

lots of questions to address...could try searching or posting each in it's proper forum..

but i'll give it a shot:

cutout:
3" is what you want, stock pipe is 2.75" so the shop should be able to make up the difference with the welder or have the I-pipe expanded a little bit.

QTP is one of the big names in e-cutouts, as is DMH. both have thier fair share of "one is better than the other" stories. it's up to you.

the LS1 has 2 cats. one bolted to the driverside manifold and the other a bit farther back. so you can't put the cutout in front of the cat..per say. your best bet is to put it in the I-pipe just before the exhaust goes up over the axle. there is a small indentation that fits the cutout perfectly. and you can run the power lines and switch up through the trans tunnel for easy access.

headlights:
there are a few "how too" sites for headlight mods. i've done a few and have listed a few on my website. not sure which i have without looking. but check out the "how too" page on the website in my signature. you can also look around www.installuniversity.com or www.ls1howto.com one of those sites has it i think.

power:
how cheap do you mean? a lid is about $100 and is a proven 7-10hp. and obviously the cutout.

as for "free" you can do the free ram air mod but since your's is an SS you really don't need it. although it won't hurt anything...and would most likely help still...since the intake track for the SS is pretty crappy to begin with.
another free thing is to port the throttle body, but you won't see much from that.

just read through the ls1 forum...say the first 15 pages...and you'll get a good idea of the basic mods and the cost/benefit of them. welcome to the world of the LSx engine
