I used the programmer and it has the cable that plugs into the programmer. There is also the small box that plugs between the cable and the car plug under the dash. Do i leave this small box in or remove it each time i use it? I assume you remove it but it does not say what to do.

The box might be an adaptor of some sort? The one I had never had a 'box' between the cable and the ALDL port into the car.
Does the box look like this:

This is obviously the ALDL port adapter to the RS232 cable
If not, then you may be the lucky owner of a module that extends the HPP and it would go into the receptacle behind this cover:

It would be sort of odd if the HPP for his 94 had an OBD-II module in the cable, or had the "cartridge" port that was only used for OBD-II.
The "box" on the 94 is similar though, because its the conversion from the cable's RS232 connector to the 12-pin ALDL connector. If you remove the "box", there would be no way to plug the cable into the ALDL port under the dash. You need to use it all the time.
Perhaps he has the wrong hypertech. I didn't even know they made one for the OBDI 12 pin. I'm so ignorant.

I found the programmer on ebay. The Item number: 300062288575 has the scan with the best picture of what i am asking about. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Hypertech-Programmer-Plus-94-97-LT1-Camaro-Formula-TA_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33597QQhashZitem3000 62288575QQihZ020QQitemZ300062288575QQrdZ1QQsspagen ameZWDVW
I have to ask you this obvious question; have you tried to plug into your ALDL port? Another obvious statement is that "box" of which I think you're talking about is the adapter from the cable (RS232) which plugs into the hpp and converts the wiring to match up to your 12 pin service port (ALDL) connector. Just as Compstall answered above.
You have probably already gone to the hypertech web site and noticed that part # 340752 isn't listed. #345752, which I have, still is although they have it shown as the HPP 3. Mine is labeled as a PLUS.
Anyway, as the ebay auction page Answer tells, your unit comes with the 12 pin adapter. You should be good to go if the previous user has released the programming that locks it to a particular car/pcm VIN.
