Bayer-Z28 12-27-2006, 10:53 PM Like it says... I'm lookin into painting my calipers this week. Advice on paint type? I can get the Autozone or Checker special stuff.
Ok, For those who don't know. I have a red Z28 w/ black accents. What color for calipers? Black I'm almost sold on. But I'd like something that stands out a little, but not screaming for attention.

LT1 POWR 12-27-2006, 11:22 PM I think black would look the best. I would suggest powdercoating them, but unless you have an extra set of calipers, another car, or one hellova powdercoater, then painting looks like your only choice. I think a high temp paint and a clearcoat would work nicely, but I havent painted calipers before. The C5 kit i'm installing soon is powdercoated.
68z28 12-27-2006, 11:58 PM Without a doubt, I would go with red paint with silver or black "Camaro decals" from Brent Franker. You have nice dual piston calipers, show them off. Those AR rebels are not subtle wheels, so why change now? Go Red, You won't regret it.

shock6906 12-28-2006, 12:27 AM Red is definitely the only way to go...and as far as paint, I wouldn't really say it matters too much. Both of my cars' calipers were sprayed with color place spray paint from wal-mart. 97 Cents a can, three coats of paint and clear. Get some brake cleaner and shoot them down really well first and you should be fine. Mine have been painted for a long time now without any sign of problems.
Brangeta 12-28-2006, 02:07 AM I would prefer black if it was my car.
CamaroRacing12 12-28-2006, 02:13 AM i would go with a nice glossy black with red decals from brent franker...... but also red calipers with black decals wouldnt look too bad either
Bayer-Z28 12-28-2006, 11:21 AM Hmm.. Thanx guys. I am thinking red now, but tryting tog et a good color match will be tough. That's why I was thinking about black. I think the Red will end up looking pink..:yuck:.. if I don't get a good match.
2000GTP 12-28-2006, 11:57 AM Its a tough choice, it would look good with either red or black. Personally, I would probably do them in black though.
BlackbirdWS6 12-28-2006, 12:35 PM I would go black. Only reason being, the stock brakes are nothing special and I see no need to show them off. You could throw on some black decals to accent them a bit. I used the paint kit from Duplicolor and I am very happy with the results.

Brangeta 12-28-2006, 01:18 PM You could always get some Porsche 911 brakes (if they'd fit). They have the nicest calipers I've ever seen.

Resilient94LT1 12-28-2006, 01:23 PM I would say red with black or silver lettering also. I love those wheels, too.
skibbez93z 12-29-2006, 12:19 AM just so you know, you have the best wheels that could possibly go on a fbody. but i would definately do red caliper paint. i have never dealt with it, but my brother did paint some calipers a few years back. he did red and they turned out great.
arklie 12-29-2006, 09:59 PM I went wth silver paint and red Camaro decals. Just thought I'd try something different than the usual red paint. My car is also red. Turned out extremly nice. Not too over the top, but noticable if you look at the wheels.
MistaCamawo 12-31-2006, 03:27 PM I want to go black with my red car
rexcellent 01-01-2007, 08:26 PM I would go black.
I have a black Z28 and painted mine black w/ silver CAMARO lettering from Brent Franker. I think they look great. Red seems tacky to me, something like you would see on a honda or some other peice of crap form Japan.
Black will also not stain as easily and will be cleaner looking all the time.
I used regular satin finish spray paint and mine still look fine after 4 years.
mcalus 01-02-2007, 07:22 PM I think red if you can match the paint to your paint of the car but if you dont find a close color to it go black!
