If your heart is set on a west coast shop I am pretty sure Dana is out there, but if you read more on here you will find that almost every builder does it differently. Do your research and good luck... OH Yeah, I forgot to mention, CPT rocks, go there... ;) Pro Built Automatics 12-27-2006, 11:27 PM Yes, I am out here on the West Coast, in the southern California area. Frank builds good units from what I have read, and I have a very good history with these units also. Frank and I are at odds when it comes to building these units. He has no use for TransGo products, (vacuum modulators, Performance Shift kits, their approach to accumulation, etc.). From my experience, I do not see the need to use the 2nd & 4th aftermarket larger area apply servos, Z-pack or the Blue Plate Special 3-4 clutches, extra wide Alto 2-4 band, etc. I have a vehicle that is running in the low nines with several hundred passes before needing a transmission tuneup, and one in the high nines that has many more runs than that, with very little problems, and is a very successful bracket racer. I also have many others that are in the tens and on up from there, doing quite well. Frank finally got one into the nines, which is good, and I am sure that he will add to this. He is one of the few people that seems to know how to make these transmissions hold up. But, when Frank makes the statement, "We build the strongest/longest lasting 4L60E's in the country" Only time will tell....... I build each transmission to match the customers application, as very few are the same. Even on the rebuild kits, I match the application as best possible. We do supply cores in certain situations. We've just found that customers are willing to go through a little extra effort to have their transmission built by the best. "Easy"?!! :rolleyes: Who lied to you?! :irk: ;) I just bought a T56 + parts for my car this summer from a guy in Florida ... had a heck of a time arranging shipping :rolleyes: ... I wanted to go with a "big name" company for reliability / peace of mind's sake ... well there aren't too many who will do ground shipments for freight items if you or the other party aren't a registered business (and in my case, we were both non-business / private individuals ... what a PITA!! :no: ). I ended up getting the tranny sent by air-freight ... holy $$$$ :(. Although I'm assuming in the case of sending something to/from one of our resident tranny builders, since they're "registered businesses", the process should be easier??? ;) Performabuilt 12-29-2006, 12:16 AM well in he rare instance where the customer does want theres done rather than just using one of ours we arrange shipping for them as part of the package Javier97Z28 12-30-2006, 07:31 PM While doing the core thing would be easier, I'd prefer to have my own transmission rebuilt. I know what it's been through, I know it's not "broken", and I'd rather not deal w/ selling a transmission when I'd get one from a builder. | ||
