Why is the LS1 not in 97?

I have noticed that the 98 and up sectionf or engines includes LS1s.
I have also noticed that 97 and below does not.

I thought the LS1 first appeared in 97 in a Corvette.

Wouldn't that make it a 97 engine as well?

Just an odd text description I saw for the sections.

Since this is a Camaro/Firebird site, it goes by the year of the Camaro/Firebird that used the LS1, not the year of the Corvette. It is a description just for reference.

I see how that makes more sense.

Thanks for making that even more clearer to me than my brother did.

F-bodies have always got the hand-me-down engines from the Vette.

What about the 1989 turbocharged V6 of the GTA? We could debate it on another thread if you wish.

OK, "F-bodies have always gotten hand-me-down engines since the 80's from other cars." :D
